Update on our new beautiful Oakland Avenue!

Oakland Avenue Southbound Paving Complete

Paving of the new southbound driving lane was completed early last Tuesday afternoon. Over the next two weeks, crews will prepare and pave the southbound parking lane and intersections. Because of the narrow work areas, most of this work will need to be completed by hand.

Residents should also expect evening and overnight concrete sawing for expansion and contraction joints after the concrete is placed. Southbound Oakland Avenue is scheduled to reopen late Thursday afternoon. The one-way closure was extended by two days to give crews additional time to safely complete paving operations near the temporary southbound driving lane. Please remember not to walk on new concrete on the day it is placed. Walking on the concrete too soon could damage the pavement, requiring replacement and potentially delaying the project.

As work continues, please slow down and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Watch for workers, equipment and changing traffic conditions. If you are walking near construction equipment, make eye contact with the operator to make sure you are seen, and avoid walking behind machinery.

Once the southbound lanes are completed, crews will begin sidewalk repairs and construction of the northbound curb extensions. Landscaping throughout the project area will follow the sidewalk work.
