Shoreline Math Olympiad is looking for helpers! Shoreline Math Olympiad: Saturday, March 11th at Shoreline Community College, 8:00 am – 2:30 pm.
Volunteers needed! Adults needed, especially as proctors, but also as scorers and testing monitors.
Proctor responsibilities: arrive by 8:00 am, attend orientation, and administer test taking from 9:30-11:45. After that you are free to go.
Each testing room will have 2 proctors assigned to it to work as a team. The grades of the kids participating are grades 4th – 8th. You’ll be overseeing one grade level of students. Training occurs on the day of the contest. You do not need to know anything about math because you are not allowed to explain any questions to the students (that would be unfair) – students should be tested on what they know on that day. But you may be required to read mental math questions aloud, so your English needs to be understandable and you have to be comfortable reading math questions aloud.
Scorer responsibilities: arrive by 9:00 am, attend orientation, and score tests until about 1:00 pm.
Testing monitor responsibilities: arrive by 8:00 am, attend orientation, and oversee areas outside testing rooms to ensure quiet, respectful behavior (by students and parents) during testing, 9:30-11:45. Outside! Dress appropriately!
We are expecting over 700 students and need more than 50 proctors. Can you join us? Contact Shelley Anderson at [email protected]
