Shohola Glen Amusement Park

Shohola Glen Amusement Park The Shohola Glen Amusement Resort was an early amusement establishment from the mid 1800's to the early 1900's that existed in Shohola, Pennsylvania.

The Shohola Glen Amusement Resort was established as an amusement park and resort in 1882 in Shohola, Pennsylvania. While the park has been closed for well over a hundred years remnants of the park still exist to this day in certain areas of Shohola as well as in history. While the Glen is not in history books or widely remembered, the Glen's main attraction was a Gravity Railroad, an early precur

sor to the modern roller coaster. Guests of the resort would usually arrive from New York City via the Erie Railroad and arrive at a station where they would embark on another train which like a roller coaster would use the force of gravity to transport guests to the Glen where attractions such as carrousels, photo booths, and other rides were located. The main surviving piece of the Resort that is still around to this day is the Shohola Viaduct, a decrepit Erie Railroad bridge that goes across the Shohola Creek. While the resort was still in operation a dance floor suspended 25 feet above the arch of the Viaduct would host events for the Glen with music supplied from live bands that would play on the dance floor.
