McLean County Animal Control is designed to promote and protect public animal safety in a variety of ways, including:

Prevention and control of rabies through rabies vaccination registration and bite investigations

Enforcement of county and state animal control and welfare laws,
In certain circumstances, the collection of stray animals including bats
Adoption of eligible animals to responsible

homes
Promoting responsible pet ownership through education and community outreach

When there is severe weather, don't forget these tips for keeping your pet safe!

Bring your pets indoors during thunderstorms and rain.
Be sure your pet wears ID or is microchipped.
Create a quiet indoor space to help them feel secure until the storms have passed.
After storms have passed, walk the fence line and check gates and latches to be sure they are secure.
Leash dogs until everything is checked.
Watch for debris or fallen branches.
Keep a leash, food, and medications with you while sheltering in place.
Provide plenty of treats or calming toys.

June is National Microchipping Month, and we think it's a good time to remind all pet owners to make sure their microchip information is up to date! If you have moved, adopted, changed ownership, or changed phone numbers you must update your microchip information with the microchip company to ensure your pet can be found if lost. McLean County Citizens can also add the pets microchip number to your pets Rabies Registration Tag profile with Animal Services, in addition to the registration with the microchip company.

If you don't know where your chip might be registered, visit MIcrochip Registry Lookup

If you call and schedule an appointment with MCAS, we can also scan your pet for a microchip. Just call 309-888-5060 to schedule a quick appointment.

If you would like more information about getting your pet microchipped, please contact your vet or give us a call at 309-888-5060 for information about other local resources.

If you found a lost pet, please call MCAS so we can help guide you with getting the pet scanned for a microchip at MCAS.
