A busy day for BHFPD Station #2 Shipman. On top of hosting a graduation party for the daughter of a BHFPD Lieutennant, we responded to 2 calls for service including a mutual aid structure fire with Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District and a medical emergency in Bunker Hill.
At 13:17, the Brighton Fire Department responded to a reported attached garage fire in the vicinity of Cove Drive. Brighton Police arrived within minutes and advised of heavy fire showing and spread to the adjacent residence to the west. Upon arrival, first units encountered two split foyer style residences, one heavily and one partially involved. Firefighters executed an aggressive attack on both structures. Several factors impeded fire extinguishment efforts due to rapid fire spread caused by high winds. We would like to extend our appreciation to mutual aid departments who provided assistance: Godfrey Fire, Fosterburg Fire, Medora Fire, Bunker Hill FPD, and Alton Memorial Hospital EMS for medical standby services. We would also like to thank our Fire Department Auxiliary and our community for the support. We had several people bring out water and Gatorade to our firefighters.
