Honor Our Troops Sponsored by El Dorado County Association of Realtors Our mission is to raise funds in the El Dorado Community to send care packages to all the military service people in the war zones from EDCAR.

EDCAR’s Honor Our Troops Committee was established in 2002. Our mission is to raise funds in the El Dorado Community to send care packages to all the military service people in the war zones who are from El Dorado County or have family members in El Dorado County. Our care packages are sent three times a year and they consist of thank you cards and letters from the community, schools and the real estate community. We also send a variety of items such as socks, dental floss, tooth brushes, tooth paste, deodorant, foot powder, lip balm, sun screen, bug spray, handy wipes, Frisbees, batteries, DVDs & CD, hand held games, paper backed books, pens, pencils, golf balls, hackie sacs, granola bars, gum, beef jerky, coffee & powdered cream, hard candy, individually wrapped snacks, ready to eat tuna, top ramen, and peanut butter. We also include a Dinner Gift Certificate for Henry’s at Red Hawk Casino, courtesy of Red Hawk Casino for when they return. We have two major annual fund raisers to support this project. We have an All American Breakfast in late January and a Spaghetti Feed in mid-October every year. In recent years we have “excess” funds, so in 2014 we partnered with the American Legion and use these excess funds for scholarships for returning service members from El Dorado County.
