Several GMIS students joined with students from the middle school and high school to attended Alvernia University's Engineering Jam. Over 350 area students were challenged by the Engineering Department to design, build, and test prototypes with limited time and resources. The GMIS team quickly followed the engineering design process they learned in Innovation class and brainstormed and sketched their ideas before building. They were precise when testing and articulate when presenting the problems they faced and iterations they made while building. They returned to school still thinking about ways to improve what they built!

These future engineers are on the right track!

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., GMIS Student Council members came together yesterday for the National Day of Service! They prepared, bagged, and delivered over 100 meals for Opportunity House. We thank everyone involved for their time, energy, and eagerness to volunteer in service of others!

The Colors of Chemistry: 5th Grade Lab Days 🧪
This week, our 5th-grade students had the opportunity to learn from Science Explorers about the fascinating properties of acids and bases. Taking on the role of Chemists, students observed various liquids and made hypotheses about their pH levels.
Using an indicator, the students were able to witness immediate color changes that helped them determine the acidity of each substance. The result was a brilliant variety of colors representing different pH levels—a true "pH rainbow!" We are so proud of our students' curiosity and scientific inquiry.

⭐️Unified Bocce is officially underway at GMIS! ⭐️

Today marked our first Unified Bocce practice, and we couldn’t be more excited to launch this new intramural team at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School in partnership with Special Olympics Pennsylvania!

Unified Sports bring students with and without disabilities together as teammates to promote inclusion, teamwork, and a strong school community. At the end of practice, students officially committed to the team by signing a Unified Bocce commitment certificate, proudly becoming team athletes!

We are so excited for this season, this opportunity for our students, and to continue growing as a unified school and district. Let the season begin! ⭐️❤️

It's almost Winter Break!!! As a friendly reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL for students on the following dates:

🌟 GMIS Students at the Brecknock Business Symposium! 🌟
Our GMIS Care Cart crew had an absolute blast at the Brecknock Business Symposium! Students spent the morning serving drinks, meeting local businesses, connecting with community members, and showcasing all the hard work they put into the Care Cart! ☕✨
We also had the chance to meet with Groovy Grinds and Brecknock Beanery! 💛 We are truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an inspiring event and for all the amazing people who continue to support our program. Thank you for helping our students learn, grow, and shine! ✨

📚✨ Field Trip Adventure! ✨📚
Our English as a Second Language (ESL) students had an amazing day exploring the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia! From hands-on science exhibits to exciting interactive displays, our students experienced learning in a whole new way.
We are so proud of their curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the trip. Here’s to learning beyond the classroom! 🚀🔬💡

GMIS had tons of fun this morning as we celebrated Fall Fest! Our students (and staff!) donned their best costumes and gathered for a variety of fun fall activities, including games, pumpkin decorating, caramel apple making, and more! Talk about a sweet way to cap off spooky season! 🎃🍬
