Red-Light And Speed Safety Camera Program Returning Following Construction Completion

The City of Tualatin is notifying motorists that the automated traffic safety camera located at the intersection of SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road and SW Avery Street has been reactivated following an extended period of inactivity during nearby construction activities.

The safety camera system is designed to improve traffic safety by reducing dangerous driving behaviors at the intersection. The system will monitor and document vehicles that enter the intersection after the traffic signal has turned red, as well as vehicles traveling 11 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit.

To provide drivers with an opportunity to adjust to the camera's return, the City has implemented a 30-day warning period, which began on June 10, 2026. During this period, drivers who commit a red-light or speed violation detected by the camera will receive a warning notice by mail rather than a citation.

After the 30-day warning period concludes, on July 9, 2026, eligible violations will result in citations being issued and mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle in accordance with Oregon law.

Studies have shown that automated traffic enforcement can help reduce red-light running, excessive speeding, and the risk of serious crashes at signalized intersections. The City encourages all motorists to obey traffic signals, follow posted speed limits, and drive attentively.

Although he was arrested in Linn County, he lives near Sherwood and could’ve contacted juveniles throughout the Portland Metro Area.

WILSONVILLE MAN ARRESTED IN LURING CASE

Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports on May 28, 2026, Linn County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested Christopher Jay Webb, 34, of Wilsonville after an eight-month long s*x abuse investigation.

The investigation revealed Webb used the Snapchat app to contact a 17-year-old female, from Sweet Home, who was unknown to him. Knowing her age, he sent multiple images and videos of s*xually explicit content of himself to the female. He also solicited similar content from her. During the investigation, investigators determined Webb used Snapchat to communicate with other juveniles for similar purposes. In conversations with the juveniles, Webb indicated that he worked at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility.

After executing search warrants for digital evidence and analyzing accounts and digital media, Webb was arrested and lodged at the Linn County Jail on one count of Luring a Minor. The investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional charges.

Based on the investigation, it is believed there are other victims who have yet to be identified. Christopher Webb’s photograph has been attached in an attempt to locate other victims that may have been contacted by him. It has been a little over one week since the Mobile Speed Cameras went live and we wanted to provide our community with an update. So far there has been 1,045 drivers who have driven 11mph or more over the posted 25mph zone on SW Oregon St and they will be receiving a warning citation in the mail.

Warnings will continue to be issued through June 22nd and citations will be issued starting June 23rd. All signage including a real-time speed display board will be installed prior to June 23rd.

Slow down now to not only save yourself a citation in the future, but most importantly, help us keep our neighborhoods and school zones safe.

Tragic incidents like yesterday in Sandy affect everyone within the community in a multitude of ways. Especially in a small community like Sandy. We are heartbroken by what happened last night and we grieve alongside everyone who’s been impacted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sandy Police Department and Sergeant Garret Thornton as he recovers from his injuries. We grieve alongside the families, friends, and loved ones who experienced profound loss when the lives of Jenna, Mary, and Kobyn were senselessly taken yesterday.

We are proud of the brave men and women from multiple law enforcement agencies across the Portland Metro Area who faced significant danger and worked together to bring such a dynamic incident to an end. We are also thankful for the heroic work of the firefighters, EMS, emergency dispatchers, Life Flight Network, and hospital personnel during this incident. Every day, First Responders put the needs of the community before their own with the real chance of not coming home to their families and loved ones, but they still show up for the betterment of their communities and remain steadfast in their commitment to serve others.

May we be reminded how precious life is and may we not take it for granted. As your night comes to an end, reach out to someone in your life and remind them how much you love them and care about them. It matters more than you think.

UPDATE: On 5/27/26 at approximately 1:30pm Daniel was safely located and is being assessed by paramedics with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue. We’d like to thank the community for looking out for Daniel and the community member who called 911 after seeing him.

Have you seen Daniel Reid? He left for a walk on SW Morback Court around 5:30pm and hasn’t returned. He left behind his phone, keys, and wallet. He was last seen wearing a green crew neck t-shirt with a green Nike logo, black shorts, and black Nike shoes.
