It’s National Public Health Week and we are highlighting each day this week Public Health in action throughout the last year in Carroll County - 💜Overdose Awareness Day💜

In August 2025, the Carroll County General Health District collaborated with community partners to host Carroll County's first Overdose Awareness Day event. We raised awareness for overdose prevention through our “Together We Can Save Lives” campaign and a county proclamation. The Overdose Awareness Day event included a memorial tribute, keynote speaker, music, free food, raffle baskets, and resource tables with many local partners providing information and support. A total of 102 people attended, and free Narcan, medication lock boxes, and drug disposal bags were provided.

Donald E. Leggett II, a lifelong member of this community, and the proud owner of Leggett Auto Service, which I have operated since 1995. For more than 30 years, I’ve worked hard to earn the trust of the people I serve by being honest, dependable, and fair. Running a small business has taught me the importance of responsibility, careful budgeting, and making decisions that put people first.
In addition to operating my business, I had the honor of serving as an elected Perry Township Trustee for 25 years. During that time, I worked closely with residents to address local needs, manage township resources responsibly, and make practical decisions that benefited our community. That experience strengthened my understanding of local government and reinforced my belief in transparency, accountability, and service.
Carroll County isn’t just where I work — it’s home. It’s where my wife Becky and I raised our five children, and where we now enjoy being grandparents to eleven wonderful grandchildren. My roots run deep here, and I care deeply about the future of our county.
As your County Commissioner, I will bring common-sense leadership, fiscal responsibility, and a strong work ethic to the job. I believe in listening to the people, protecting our local values, and working hard every day to ensure Carroll County remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
I would be honored to earn your support.
— Donald E. Leggett II

Carroll County leaders opened the doors to a new chapter recently with a ribbon cutting and open house for the Moody Avenue Annex Building.

The 45,000-square-foot facility will bring key county services together under one roof — including the Board of Elections, Job and Family Services, OhioMeansJobs, Child Support Enforcement, Emergency Management, the Coroner’s Office, OSU Extension and more — making it easier for residents to access the services they rely on every day.

Following the ceremony, guests toured the building and saw firsthand how the new space will support county operations now and into the future.
