Day 5 Internship Recap 🎉

What a way to wrap up an incredible week!

Yesterday, our interns helped bring the fun and energy to the annual Great Safety Round Up. From helping with setup to welcoming families, assisting at activities, and keeping the good vibes flowing, they played an important role in making the event a success.

A highlight of the day? The temporary tattoos were a hit with guests *and* interns alike! 😎

Throughout this week, these students have served, learned, connected, and experienced firsthand what it means to make a difference in our community. We couldn't be more proud of the enthusiasm, compassion, and hard work they brought to every opportunity.

Today was all about seeing what it means to serve our community from every angle.

Our interns kicked off the day supporting the mission of The Salvation Army by lending a hand in the thrift store, helping ensure resources are available to neighbors in need.

Next, they hit the road delivering meals through Meals on Wheels, bringing not only nourishment but also friendly smiles to local seniors.

To wrap up the day, they spent time with the amazing youth at Boys & Girls Clubs of Sherman, building connections, sharing laughs, and experiencing firsthand the impact of positive mentorship and safe spaces for kids.

From stocking shelves to delivering meals to inspiring young minds, today showed that service comes in many forms—and every act of kindness makes a difference.

Day 2 of the Internship Program Recap!

Today was packed with learning, leadership, and meaningful conversations.

We started by exploring the importance of speaking for justice and using our voices for advocacy. We learned about Robert's Rules of Order and then had the opportunity to see them in action during the Commissioners Court meeting.

We also received a behind-the-scenes tour of the old jail and learned about the history of the Sherman Riots of 1930, gaining valuable insight into our community's past. Afterward, we toured the Sherman Police Department and learned more about law enforcement and public service.

One of the highlights of the day was an outstanding mental health training led by Corey Laird from Grayson College, which provided important tools and perspectives on mental wellness.

We wrapped up the day by meeting with school officials and engaging in open, honest dialogue about our schools, discussing both challenges and opportunities for growth.

Another incredible day of learning, leadership development, and community engagement. Looking forward to what Day 3 has in store!
