Sheridan County Seed Library

Sheridan County Seed Library A free seed lending program sponsored by Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library and the Powder River Basin Resource Council.

The Sheridan County Seed Library is a collection of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds that you can borrow from to plant and grow at home. Borrowing seeds from the seed library is FREE! We're happy to accept donations of your open-pollinated, heirloom, and locally saved seeds in any quantity. You can drop your seed donations off at the Sheridan County Extension Office. As you grow as a gardener and a seed saver, we hope that you will consider sharing your seeds with the Seed Library community.

We love seeing this! Thank you Rooted in Wyoming for teaching kids about growing from seeds. Not only are they learning a life skill, and hopefully igniting a lifelong passion, but also setting the stage for improved biodiversity in the years to come.

Today's weather isn't conducive to gardening outdoors, so it's a good opportunity to watch this workshop featuring LeAnn Miller, the Veggie Lady, on growing a local food business right here in Wyoming.

If you're looking for some inspiration, check out this workshop featuring Wyoming's Veggie Lady, LeAnn Miller, who recently spoke to an audience of local food producers in Sheridan. Miller, who owns Eat Wyoming, drew on her decades of experience in both gardening and food distribution to share advice with established and beginning food producers.
If you know someone who is interested in growing for their local market, please feel free to share this video with them!

If you're growing a garden this year, why not grow a little extra? This is a great, local way to provide more fresh produce for your community!

Calling all gardeners! This summer, join First Lady Jennie Gordon's Wyoming Hunger Initiative, the Cent$ible Nutrition Program, and the University of Wyoming Extension for the fourth year of Grow a Little Extra. We invite you to join us in growing a little extra to donate fresh produce to local anti-hunger organizations that support our neighbors facing food insecurity. Stop by your local Extension office to pick up your free seeds and/or to donate extra from your garden harvest.

You know spring is coming when your mailbox is filled with seed catalogs! Remember that the Sheridan County Seed Library (located in the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library) is stocked for this growing season.
Please follow the guidelines of checking out only 5 seed packets per individual per month so that there are enough seed packets for everyone who wants to try them.

The Sheridan Seed Library has been restocked! A big thank you to our members John Buyok and Rachel and Luc Bourgault for volunteering to get the seed library ready for the growing season.

Seed Library users must sign in with the circulation desk at the library. An individual can check out 5 seed packets per month. Seed packets are free, and if you want to save seeds yourself, we welcome donations of some of your saved seeds at the end of the season; however, that's not a requirement.

And be sure to check out the library's extensive collection of gardening books if you need some inspiration or help!
