Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who currently serve, have served and those made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Sheridan Fire-Rescue, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day as we reflect on the true meaning of this holiday.

Sheridan firefighters took advantage of the warm weather today and trained on drafting/relay pumping at Mavrakis pond. Sheridan Fire-Rescue depends heavily on the City of Sheridan’s hydrant system but also responds to all structure fires throughout Sheridan County. Drafting allows for an alternative water source when hydrants are not available.

Sheridan Fire-Rescue’s six recruits have officially reached the halfway point of Fire Academy—and what a journey it’s been so far.

The academy is designed to challenge them in every way, both physically and mentally, and it’s no secret that it has been demanding. Long days, tough drills, and constant learning have pushed each of them to their limits. But day in and day out, these recruits have shown resilience, determination, and a commitment to improving.

They continue to rise to the challenge, proving themselves through hard work, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. Their progress has not gone unnoticed, and they’ve done an outstanding job representing the future of our department.

We’re proud of the effort they’ve put in so far and look forward to watching them finish strong. Keep pushing—you’re halfway there men!

Exciting progress for Sheridan Fire Rescue! 🚒
Our team recently traveled to the Pierce Manufacturing facility in Appleton, Wisconsin, for the final inspection of our brand-new fire engine. We are thrilled to announce that this 2026 Pierce HD Rescue Pumper is officially one step closer to arriving home.
This state-of-the-art apparatus is built to enhance our response capabilities and better serve the Sheridan community. Stay tuned for more updates and a formal "push-in" ceremony once it hits our bay floor!
