A GREAT class held locally in Grand Rapids and taught by a group of awesome technical rescue instructors!! Who knows; this could come in very handy during hunting season in 2026!!

Rescue From Trees 🌳

Registration now open for 2026 sessions!

Our comprehensive program addresses the rescue of arborists, hunters, parachutists, and individuals not already in a harness.

This course explores important safety and operational aspects not found in similar classes. There is a strong emphasis on gaining access to victims and work positioning in trees as well as training on chain saw handling, knowledge of limbing and bucking techniques and safety considerations.

Participants must have previous rope rescue training.

▪ April 28-30 in Grand Rapids, MI
▪ June 16-18 in Midland, MI

If your fire department or county ever gets a chance to host or attend this course, Do It!! You will not regret the opportunity to experience a live propane fire scenario in a controlled, but real environment!! TRAIN ON!!!

THERE IS STILL ROOM!! Course is open to ANY Firefighter and Department!!

THIS SATURDAY, JULY 26TH, the Michigan Propane Gas Association Gas Liquid Propane Emergencies course is being held in Montcalm County at the Sheridan Community Center

There is a flyer attached from the MPGA and the SMOKE Course number. There is a class size maximum of 35: BEFORE SIGNING UP, be advised this is a LIVE FIRE SMOKE Course and therefore students MUST be a certified Fire Fighter with a SMOKE ID Number and will need to bring NFPA compliant turnout gear including SCBA.

The Sheridan Fire Department will be providing lunch; PIZZA from Joe's Market in Palo will be delivered!!

The Crystal Fire Department is hosting an Aero Med landing zone class on Monday, July 21st at 6:30pm at their station and area 1st responders are welcome to attend. As a courtesy, please contact Chief Fitzpatrick with a number of attendees that will be attending to ensure appropriate seating.

Class #0018 from the Montcalm County Fire Association Fire Fighter I/II Fire Academy graduation night. Thank you to Cory Smith of The daily News for covering our event. Special thank you to West Bloomfield Fire Department Chief Gregory Flynn for being our Key Note Speaker along with Nikolai Zerkle from State Representative Pat Outman's Office for the special recognition of the graduates. It was a standing room only of Brothers and Sisters from the Fire Service, family and friends of the 24 students and what a celebration of accomplishments, passion and friendships!! CONGRATULATIONS to ALL!!!

Thank you for your service, Brother Mike. Our thoughts are with The Van Wagner Family as well as our Brothers at Howard City Fire Department.
