For us, this work has always been a labor of love.

This Labor Day, we're grateful for the air show industry that welcomes us onto the flight line — the performers who trust us to have their back, the spectators whose wonder reminds us why this matters, and the friends and family who support us through every mobilization, every long weekend, every show season.

Safety is our job. But showing up for this community? That's the love part.

God Speed.

Today, the Hellenic Air Force lost two of its own.

Squadron Leader Ioannis Blesias, 40, and Flight Lieutenant Dimitrios Petrou, 37, were the two aviators aboard the 338 Squadron F-4E Phantom II lost during Athens Flying Week at Tanagra.

For so many of us, today was supposed to be about seeing and celebrating one of the most iconic aircraft still flying in Europe.

Tonight, the aircraft feels secondary.

Behind every display, every formation and every pass are people. Two aviators went flying today and did not return home.

Our deepest condolences go to the families, friends and colleagues of Ioannis and Dimitrios, and to everyone at 338 Squadron, 117 Combat Wing and the Hellenic Air Force.

May their names be remembered long after the sound of the Phantom has faded.

Rest in peace, Ioannis and Dimitrios. 🇬🇷🕯️

Some legacies are measured in trophies. Des Barker's is measured in lives.

Maj. Gen. Des Barker (SAAF, ret.) has been selected for induction into the ICAS Foundation Air Show Hall of Fame, alongside legendary warbird pilot Steve Hinton. Both will be formally inducted on December 10 at the Chairman's Banquet during the 2026 ICAS Convention.

For more than 20 years, Des collected and analyzed international air show accident data so the rest of us would never have to learn those lessons the hard way. "Zero Error Margin" and "Anatomy of Air Show Accidents" are still required reading in this industry — and they still change how people fly.

In 2022, FROST was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Des Barker Safety Award. We carry that name onto every show site we work.

One more thread: FROST CEO Bob Yanacsek flew a Focke-Wulf in air shows. And Des conducted test flights in the new FW149. Two pilots, two continents, the same airplane — and the same conviction that an air show can be breathtaking and safe at the same time.

Congratulations to both inductees. We'll be standing and applauding on December 10.
