The 82d Contracting Squadron (82 CONS) at Sheppard AFB, TX is also seeking candidates for a Supervisory Contract Specialist in our Base/Specialized Acquisition Flight. This position serves as one of the Section Chiefs (GS-1102-13) and an Unlimited Warranted Contracting Officer for our largest buying flight (PKA), obligating over $100M annually in support of various customers across the installation as well as external mission partners across the globe. While they will be predominantly responsible for large dollar services and supply/commodity acquisitions, the Section Chief is also a first-line supervisor—managing workload, training, mentoring, and leading a team of approximately 11 other civilian and military contracting ninjas.

The 82d Contracting Squadron is a well-recognized leader within the United States Air Force acquisition community, with a portfolio exceeding $1 Billion in support of the respective missions of the 82d Training Wing and the 80th Flying Training Wing. Home of the AF’s largest technical training mission, busiest joint-use airfield in the AF, and only internationally manned and managed pilot training program—the Euro-NATO Joint-Jet Pilot Training Program. 82 CONS is also a leader in innovation and contracting support, partnering with organizations such as AFWERX, RAPIDX, AETC/DET 23, AFRL/SBRK, and many others to collaborate and provide strategic contract vehicles. - At least 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-12) or equivalent in other pay systems.
- Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP), Contracting Certification – Professional.
- Advanced Degrees and grade-appropriate PME is highly regarded.

This position serves as a Flight Chief (GS-1102-13) and an Unlimited Warranted Contracting Officer within our Plans and Programs Flight (PKP). This pivotal role supports critical internal functions, including IT Support, Quality Assurance (QAPC), Policy, and the Government Purchase Card program, which oversees over 200 cardholder accounts across 22 geographically separated units and handles over $8 million in transactions annually. As Flight Chief, you will lead a dedicated team of approximately six contracting professionals and one cyber expert.
