Tis' the season for swimming pools!!! Just remember that you will need a permit based on the ordinance if you want to put a pool up.
154.072 SWIMMING POOLS.
Swimming pools are permitted in the rear and side yards of all residential districts, provided all
of the following regulations are complied with:
(A) The pool shall be equipped with filtration, circulation and other systems adequate to maintain
the water in a clean and healthful condition in accordance with the health requirements of
the county.
(B) Swimming pools shall be equipped with filtration, circulation and other systems adequate to
maintain the water in a clean and healthful condition in accordance with the health
requirements of the county.
(C) No swimming pool shall be wholly or partially emptied on another property, unless written
permission is first obtained from the adjacent property owner. A plumbing permit shall be
obtained if the swimming pool is connected to a potable water supply.
(D) Every person owning land on which there is located a swimming pool (below ground or above
ground) which contains twenty-four inches (24") or more of water in depth at any point, shall
ensure that such swimming pool is made inaccessible to small children by means of a fence
or enclosure surrounding the swimming pool or due to the height of the side walls, as
approved by the Zoning Administrator. The side walls, fences or enclosures, including the
gates, shall not be less than four feet (4') or greater than six feet (6') above grade. All gates
shall be self-latching with latches placed no less than four feet (4') above grade or otherwise
made inaccessible from the outside to small children.
(E) Swimming pools shall not be located less than ten feet (10') from any side lot line and shall
not be located less than five feet (5') from any rear lot line.
(F) No lighting or electrical wiring shall overhang the surface of the water or present the
possibility of falling into the water. All lighting of swimming pools or the surrounding area
shall not be so located as to reflect on adjacent property or upon adjacent buildings.
(G) Discharged water will not be allowed to flow into the storm water system.
