City crews will provide traffic control, and reader boards are being placed around town today for further notification. Please use caution if traveling through a work zone.

Stop by the Civic Center next week between June 22 and June 26 for the Peninsula Art Association's 36th annual art show!

Admission is free and open to the public. The art show will be open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

There's still a little time to enter your art for this show! Bring your art to the Civic Center TODAY from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for entry. There is a $10 fee for each piece submitted, or you can join the Association for a $25 annual fee.

We're now accepting applications to fill a couple of vacancies on the Civil Service Commission. Applicants must be United States citizens and reside within Shelton city limits.

The Civil Service Commission is a 3-member volunteer board responsible for administering rules and conducting examinations for the Shelton Police Department. The Commission also establishes and administers civil service rules and regulations in compliance with state law.

Commissioners serve 6-year terms. Meetings are generally held monthly, but meetings can be convened on an as-needed basis. Commission meetings can be either in-person or virtual. These are volunteer positions.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest to Human Resources Manager LeAndra Sharp at [email protected]. Applicants can find additional Commission information on our website at sheltonwa.gov/CivilServiceCommission.

The Civic Center will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Offices will reopen on Monday, June 22.

City Council meets tonight (6/16) at 5:45 p.m. for a Shelton Metropolitan Parks District (SMPD) board meeting, followed by a regular Council meeting at 6:00 p.m.

Some topics on tonight's Council meeting agenda include:
- Mason County Historical Society Q1 LTAC report
- Public hearing for the 6-year Transportation Improvement Program (Resolution No. 1444-0526)

Congrats to teams "Fellowship of the D***s", "Dad's in the Kitchen", and "Puka Popos" - the winners of Parks & Recreation's spring doubles pickleball league! 🎉

Twelve teams competed in this year's league. Team "Fellowship of the D***s" was the gold bracket winner, "Dad's in the Kitchen" won the silver bracket, and "Puka Popos" took home the bronze.
