Last week, Career Team came together for our Monthly All Staff Meeting, featuring guest speaker Bianca Cervantes, Founder of Bianomics. Her session, "Making It Work: Adaptive Thinking for Messy, Real-Life Problems," gave our Team practical tools for navigating the unpredictable, real-world challenges that come with the work we do every day.

Sabrina’s journey is a powerful reminder that career training is about supporting the whole person!

Enrolled in the VC HEAL Healthcare Careers Program, Sabrina worked tirelessly toward becoming a Medical Assistant to build a better future for her daughter. Balancing long commutes, childcare, and extreme financial strain, she faced the very real threat of housing instability while trying to finish her education.

Working alongside her Career Advisor, Branden Mayo, Sabrina received rental assistance to secure her housing, as well as referrals to local food banks for daily necessities. With basic needs covered, she was able to focus fully on her studies, pass her certification exams, and step into the healthcare workforce.

Her hard work made such an impact that HealthStaff even invited her to consider returning as an instructor for the hands-on lab training.

Congratulations, Sabrina, on turning real perseverance into a full-circle success story, and thank you, Branden, for providing essential guidance every step of the way!

Over the last four years, Lucila has been a driving force in workforce development across Southern California. Having served as a Career Advisor, Quality Manager, and Supervisor on our Orange County Team, she brings real, ground-level experience and deep dedication to her new role as Executive Director.

Lucila holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and remains passionate about two central goals: helping individuals achieve their career dreams and building talent pipelines that strengthen local employers and communities.

The Road to Opportunity is rolling into Las Vegas! If you’re ready to build new skills and get on the road to a new career, join us on September 1, 2026 to learn about our 8-week CDL + Heavy Equipment Operator training program beginning September 21.

There are only 15 training slots available! Eligible participants can receive training funding, supportive services, workforce preparation, and job placement assistance - including the opportunity to interview with the City of Las Vegas!

Come see where 8 weeks can take you! Registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Check out the flyer for registration details and required documents.
