Shelton Day 2026 is on Sunday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, presented by The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club.

A Shelton tradition since 1984, Shelton Day will feature live music, food trucks and vendors, local businesses and organizations, a kids’ zone, shopping, and plenty of family fun.

New this year: a Restaurant Raffle with gift cards and prizes from area restaurants. Mayor Mark Lauretti will also present the official Shelton Day Proclamation.

The Shelton Police Department will be on site throughout the event to help keep everyone safe and ensure a fun day for the entire community!

The Shelton Police Department is providing an update regarding the search for 73-year-old Christopher Taylor, who was reported missing on August 16, 2026. Following an extensive, multi-agency search effort, Mr. Taylor was located deceased on August 24, 2026.

The Shelton Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the agencies, organizations, volunteers, and members of the community who assisted throughout the search. We are especially grateful for the assistance provided by the Derby Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, Shelton Fire Department, Shelton EMS, Oxford Fire/EMS Department, Oxford K9 Search and Rescue, as well as community outreach organizations, volunteers, and residents who provided assistance, information, and support.

We also thank everyone who shared information, assisted with the search, or provided tips to Detectives. The tremendous response from the community and surrounding agencies was instrumental throughout this difficult search.

Please keep the Taylor family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one during this difficult time.

The Detective Bureau is continuing its efforts to locate 73-year-old Christopher Taylor. We are asking the public for any and all information that may assist Detectives in determining Mr. Taylor’s whereabouts and bringing him safely back home.

If you saw Mr. Taylor, spoke with him, observed anything suspicious, or have information that you believe may be relevant to this investigation, please come forward.

Anonymous information is accepted.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Your information could be the piece that helps us locate Mr. Taylor and bring him safely back home.

The Shelton Police Department Detective Bureau is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 73-year-old Christopher Taylor, who was last seen in the area of Booth Hill Road and Clinton Drive on Friday, August 14. Mr. Taylor was reported missing on Sunday, August 16.

We are asking residents in the area to please check backyards, wooded areas, fields, sheds, garages, outbuildings, and other areas where Mr. Taylor may be located.

If you see Mr. Taylor or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.

The Shelton Police Detective Bureau remains committed to locating Mr. Taylor. Detectives are working around the clock and utilizing every available resource to assist in the investigation.

Due to the Labor Day Holiday, there will be no trash or recycling collection on Monday, September 7, 2026.

Monday’s collection will be delayed one day.

For the rest of the week, put your trash and recycling out on your regular collection day. If it is not picked up that day, it will be collected the following day.

The Transfer Station and Shelton City Yard will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, and will reopen Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
