Central Crossing Senior Center now offers emergency after hours service to the public.

The senior center is available as a warming or cooling facility should Shell K**b residents or people vacationing in the area need such service.

During predicted violent storms, the Center’s BARA shelter is available. BARA stands for Best Available Refuge Area. This shelter is not a FEMA approved shelter but may be better than a campsite or what may otherwise be available to residents and visitors of the area. Waiver signature of users is required for this service.

Arrangements are made for any of these services by calling after 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and anytime Saturdays and Sundays:

Celebrating Ten Years of Digging

A group of genealogists have been researching and collaborating together at the Central Crossing Senior Center since 2016. What a journey it has been. So many mysteries uncovered, stories told, and “oh my goodness” (es). We always have room for more members in our group, but if you just want help getting started, that can be arranged as well. Our members do not research for others as we are still busy digging for clues to our own ancestors. We meet every Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and have the computer room reserved until 3:00 p.m. Arrival time is flexible, however we do our sharing of information from 9-10. We have recently been licensed as a Family Search Library Affiliate. This allows us access to millions of original documents. There are also other free genealogy sites to explore. Beginning January 1, 2027, there will be a $20 per year membership fee to offset the cost of paper and ink cartridges. You are not required to join as a member, but there will be a charge of $0.10 per copy for nonmembers. Come by any Thursday to check us out and get started digging.
