Shelby County, we are truly at a loss for words. Thank you. 🚑💙
When our crews put on their uniforms, they aren't just clocking into a job. They are stepping out to take care of their own. You are our friends, our family, and the people we live life alongside every single day. Today, you showed up for us in the same way we strive to show up for you.
Because of your incredible support, the sales tax proposal has passed.
What this means to our paramedics and EMTs goes far beyond numbers on a budget.
We carry the weight of your trust with us on every single call. Thank you for investing in our readiness, our safety, and the future of emergency care in our community. We’ve got the watch!

Today is Election Day! 🗳️
When you head to the polls today, you will see a ballot measure regarding the Salt River Ambulance District. The proposal asks voters to decide on adjusting the district's local sales tax rate from its current 0.5% to 1%. The current half-cent rate was originally established in 2004.
Revenue from this tax stays 100% local. It is used for the maintenance of ambulances and medical equipment, retaining qualified Paramedics and EMTs, and ensuring our crews are ready for 911 calls.
Please take the time to make your voice heard at the ballot box today! đźš‘

Tomorrow is Election Day!
Please remember to vote on the Salt River Ambulance District sales tax proposal.
đźš‘ Adjusting our 2004 rate from a half-cent to one cent helps us meet rising costs for fuel, supplies, and vehicles.
đźš‘ This funding keeps our mobile emergency rooms running and helps us retain qualified Paramedics and EMTs.
đźš‘ By using a sales tax, travelers and visitors share the load, not just property owners.
This small change ensures we are equipped and ready when every second counts.
See you at the polls!

We're planning for the next ten years!
Emergency services require long-term vision. We aren't just thinking about next week's schedule; we are thinking about vehicle replacements five years from now.
The proposed sales tax adjustment provides the financial stability needed to plan for capital expenses, like replacing a chassis or upgrading cardiac monitors, without needing emergency loans or drastic budget cuts.
Stability today ensures a safer tomorrow!

❌Myth: "Insurance covers the whole cost."
✅Fact: Federal programs like Medicare reimburse rural Missouri at the nation’s second-lowest rate, ahead of only Puerto Rico, and private insurance often covers only a fraction of the actual cost of a call.
Because billing revenue rarely covers operating costs, local tax support is the foundation that keeps the doors open and the trucks running for everyone, regardless of insurance status.
It helps bridge the funding gap.

đźš‘ We cover a lot of ground. đźš‘
Our district is large, and response times matter. To cover our territory effectively, our vehicles are pushed hard. They must drive fast in all weather conditions—rain, snow, or mud.
Reliability is safety. We cannot afford for an ambulance to break down on the way to an emergency. The proposed funding supports a consistent vehicle replacement plan, ensuring that the fleet remains modern, safe, and ready to handle the miles we put on it every year.

Why use a Sales Tax?
Funding emergency services through a sales tax means the responsibility is shared. It isn’t just property owners who pay; it is everyone who passes through our community.
Travelers on the highway, visitors stopping for gas, and people coming into town for supplies all contribute to the sales tax. Since visitors also rely on our ambulances if they have an accident or medical event while in town, it is fair that they help fund the safety net.

🚨 "In an emergency, every single second counts." 🚨
Eli from the Salt River Ambulance District explains why the upcoming sales tax measure on the April 7th ballot is so crucial for our community. With rising medical supply costs, this measure will help us replace aging equipment and keep our response times fast.
It’s a direct investment in your family’s safety. 🚑💙

Remember what things cost back in 2004? 🕰️
That’s the when Salt River Ambulance District’s current half cent sales tax was passed!
For over 20 years, our local ambulance service has relied on the exact same half-cent sales tax. But times have changed! Today’s ambulances carry amazing, life-saving tools—like advanced heart monitors—that cost much more. Add in the rising price of fuel and daily supplies, and a 2004 budget just can't cover 2026 costs.
To keep our emergency services strong, there is a proposal to update the sales tax to one cent. This small change will bridge the gap, making sure our paramedics have the fully equipped ambulances they need when every second counts. 🚑🩺
We’re dedicated to our community and we take our role as stewards of your tax dollars very seriously.
