🇺🇸 We Will Never Forget. 🇺🇸

On September 11, 2001, our nation was changed forever. Among the thousands of lives lost were 343 brave firefighters who answered the call without hesitation.

They ran toward danger while others were running away. They made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others, demonstrating the true meaning of courage, brotherhood, and selflessness.

Today, the Shelbyville Fire Department pauses to remember not only the firefighters who gave their lives that day, but every victim, family member, first responder, and hero whose life was forever changed.

May we never forget their sacrifice. May we always honor their courage. And may we continue to carry their legacy forward.

A huge thank you to Shelbyville High School for allowing the Shelbyville Fire Department to proudly display and hang the American flag from our ladder truck during the football game.

It was an honor to be able to do this and show our support for our community, our students, and our great country. 🇺🇸❤️💙

Severe Weather for Monday, April 27th, 2026.

Storms will impact the area, with the most intense round of super cell storms occurring in the afternoon and evening.

IF the morning storms continue too long and clouds hang around for an extended time, it could zap the energy for the afternoon/evening storms.

Round 1 - Should impact us around 10am.

Round 2 - 2pm through 10pm (Watch for impacts to school pickup)

10-14% chance of EF3 or higher tornadoes.
45-59% chance of damaging wind.
15-29% chance of hail 2" or more.

As always, we will be monitoring conditions with our partners at NWS and will update as we get more information in the morning and throughout the day.

Should the afternoon super cells hold, we will likely send out a general notification text for anyone that has signed up for our TextMyGov service.

Tonight, Friday April 17th, 2026.

Severe thunderstorms are likely between 8pm and 1am.

Damaging winds present the greatest risk to Shelby County, with a 30-44% chance.

Probabilities are very low, but not zero, for the development of tornadoes in our area.

We will be monitoring the development of this storm.

Stay weather aware. Be prepared.

Update for Tuesday, March 10th, 2026

Timing: 7pm - Midnight

There's a slight risk of severe weather, with the northern portion of Shelby County in the greatest area of concern.

Probabilities:
Tornadoes 5-9% with a maximum intensity of EF2
Hail 15-29% up to 2" in Northern Shelby County
Damaging Winds 15-29%

Weather can shift. Have a plan. Be prepared.

NWS indicated our neighbors to the North will likely see a damaging weather event. Level 4 of 5 Moderate risk isn't issued lightly. If you have friends or family in that region, be sure they are weather prepared.
