Tick bites can do more than spread illnesses like Lyme Disease, they can also trigger a red meat allergy called Alpha-Gal Syndrome! This condition can make eating beef, pork, or other mammal products cause allergic reactions.
- Use EPA-approved insect repellent
- Wear long sleeves and pants in grassy or wooded areas
- Check your body, kids, and pets for ticks after being outdoors
- Shower soon after outdoor activities
- Remove ticks promptly and properly with tweezers

Meet our amazing HANDS Supervisor, Star! ✨ For the past 13 years, she has been helping families across our communities through the Program. Before joining , she worked as a Labor & Delivery nurse at University of Louisville Hospital where she focused on maternal and child health. When she's not working, you can find her enjoying a book or movie and dreaming of future trips to Venice, London, and Ireland!
