🚧 East Main Street Bridge Replacement Update — Closure Begins June 29
Our community has experienced a lot of construction, traffic changes, and detours over the past couple of years, and I know it has not always been easy. I understand the frustration, and as someone who lives here and travels these roads, I experience those impacts as well.
Beginning June 29th, the East Main Street Bridge will close as demolition and replacement construction begins. Attached is the traffic plan showing the affected area, traffic changes, and detour routes. I strongly encourage eveyone to plan ahead-review the traffic plan before traveling through the area, allow extra time, and consider alternate routes when possible.
This project is a necessary infrastructure improvement to help maintain a safe and reliable roadway for our residents, businesses, and everyone who travels through our community.
For the past two years, I have been working with KYTC District 5, our public safety teams, and community leaders to prepare for this closure and address traffic flow, emergency response, and community impacts.
KYTC signage will be placed throughout the area to help keep motorists informed as traffic patterns change. KYTC has also coordinated updates with navigation services such as Waze and other mapping systems to assist motorists with current route information.
While significant planning and coordination have gone into preparing for this closure, we also recognize that no plan is perfect and there may be challenges along the way. We ask for everyone’s patience, understanding, and a little grace as we work through this together.
The current schedule has the bridge and roadway reopening on or before December 18th, 2026.
Please allow extra travel time, pay attention to changing traffic patterns, and continue to support our local businesses and the crews working to complete this important project.
Thank you for your patience and for continuing to support our community.
