What a day! Your Shelby County delegates to the Indiana Democratic State Convention met with candidates, talked strategy with neighboring county delegates, attended the 6th District Congressional Meeting and attended various constituency caucus meetings. The day wrapped up with a powerful general session where they listened to impassioned speeches and voted on the party platform and nominees for three state positions. Coumba Kebe was selected as the party’s nominee for State Treasurer, Jessica Bailey for State Comptroller, and Beau Bayh for Secretary of State.

Thank you to everyone who took time to vote in our recent primary and elected these delegates for our county! They were honored to represent you today.

Our Shelby County delegates are having a great start to the Indiana Democratic Party’s annual convention! The morning kicked off with a meeting of the 6th Congressional District where we heard from multiple candidates including our own, Sarah Puls and Sean David Scott for County Council 3rd District. There is a lot of excitement in the air. Change is coming to Indiana!

Shelby County deserves common decency, respect, and care from their elected leaders. I get it, Shelby County and Shelbyville haven’t had a Democrat elected in quite a few years, but we have been here the whole time. Our candidates just don’t go away when an election doesn’t go our way, we are out there helping and leading the community, albeit not in elected offices.

Our party base is growing. We have tripled our monthly meeting attendance, our social media is getting loads of attention. What we don’t want is people celebrating the failures of Shelbyville. We want people stepping up to get involved in change, and, if they are ready and have the right values, run for office.

Let’s talk about values. Locally and on a state level, Republicans have forked over local control to national politicians like Trump. We saw Hoosiers stand up against redistricting last fall, yet still Braun and Trump flooded the primary with cash and ousted those Republicans that were standing with their fellow Hoosiers to keep Washington out of Indiana. They think the election is over, that they have purchased the State House. Voters can have a choice, but only if we have viable candidates. Every day I get contacts from Republicans that are embarrassed of their president and sick of DC telling Shelby County how to live; they are joining our cause. The answer is clear, stop voting for people that send our local control to people like Braun and Trump.

Shelby County Democrats care about their neighbors—that is what our group is about. Regardless of who is in charge, we still help. For each vacancy we fill, it brings out an additional 1.5% of voters. Imagine that, an election where people are excited to get their neighbors into office, not some people that think that they can just waltz in and benefit themselves in their elected position.

If you care about Shelby County, think that things need to get back to reality, that everything is too damn expensive, and that regular working people deserve respect, shoot us a message. Not sure what your district is? We can look it up.

Fired up? Tired of the same leaders that fork over local control to DC? Let's take back local control and get back to common decency. Run for something.

The Shelby County Democrats are gaining traction following the Primary Election, Party Chair Joe Land said Wednesday in a phone call with The Shelbyville News.

Cinde Wirth for U.S. Congress !

Cinde Wirth is our nominee in Congressional District 6! Cinde is a 7th generation Hoosier who is running because she believes in a better future for all Hoosiers.
