Today, the Shelbyville Police Department joins our nation in remembering the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

We honor the brave first responders who ran toward danger, the innocent lives taken too soon, and the families who continue to carry their memory. We also remember the courage, sacrifice, and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

To our fellow law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, service members, and all who answered the call that day - your bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Today, Markie Lamattina celebrates 2 years of service. Markie is assigned to the Animal Control Division of the Shelbyville Police Department. #2026

Yesterday, Shane George celebrates 27 years of service with the Shelbyville Police Department. George is assigned to the 17th Judicial District Drug Task Force, where he is the Director of Operations.

The Mandy Jean Memorial Toy Drive continues to make a difference!

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, the toys collected through the Mandy Jean Memorial Toy Drive help stock the toy room at Junior’s House Child Advocacy Center.

After completing a forensic interview, children who have experienced abuse are able to choose a toy to take home with them — something we hope can bring a little comfort and a smile after an incredibly difficult experience. Last year alone, 355 children were served through the Shelbyville office.

We are so grateful to Heritage South Community, Elite Physical Therapy, Shepenco, and all of the individuals throughout our community who donated and helped make this year’s drive a success.

Every toy donated means something, and we can’t thank you enough for helping us continue this special tradition in memory of Mandy Jean.
