Emergency Plane Landing in Fisherville Road Area

Shelby County, KY — April 20, 2026

Earlier today, emergency responders were dispatched to the Fisherville Road area following reports of a small aircraft making an emergency landing.

Preliminary information indicates the aircraft was traveling from Lexington to Louisville when it experienced mechanical issues mid-flight. The pilot was able to safely navigate the aircraft to the ground, landing in a large crop field in the Fisherville Road area.

Both occupants on board were not injured and declined medical treatment at the scene. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management, arrived quickly to secure the area and ensure the safety of those involved. There is no threat to the public at this time.

The incident remains under investigation, and the appropriate aviation authorities have been notified.

Last week, U.S. Marshals from Texas contacted the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Shelbyville Police Department regarding a person wanted for Aggravated Armed Robbery, believed to be in the Shelbyville, KY area. Operational resources and joint man-hours from local agencies were dedicated to locating the suspect in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

The suspect was arrested on the 8th of April 2026 at or around 0500 hours without incident and is currently awaiting extradition back to Irving, Texas. There, he will appear before a jury and judge to face his charges.

The Sheriff's Office, along with the Shelbyville Police Department, continues to proactively work in cooperation to ensure the Shelby County community remains safe and secure for all residents and families.

Property tax bills in Shelby County remain in the name of the person who owned the property on January 1 of the tax year.

If you purchased property in 2025 and have not received or paid your tax bill, it may have been sent to the previous owner.

If you sold property in 2025, there could still be an unpaid bill in your name.

Please note: After April 15, penalties will be added and interest will continue to accrue.

We continue to build strong partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement to yield impactful results and promote a safer community.
This was a lengthy investigation involving many man-hours and collaborative efforts that resulted in this arrest. Captain Kyle Tipton, Deputy Scott Clemmons, and K9 Eddie assisted with the investigation, traffic stop, and arrest.

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating a big milestone at Wright Elementary as 76 students graduated from the D.A.R.E. program!

These students put in the time, effort, and commitment to learn about making safe and responsible choices, and we’re proud of each and every one of them. Programs like D.A.R.E. play an important role in helping guide our young people as they grow and face important life decisions.

A big congratulations to Deputy Robinson for doing an outstanding job teaching the program and making a lasting impact on the lives of these students.

We wrapped up the day with a well earned pizza party for all the graduates, a great way to celebrate their accomplishment!

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for McKayla Rogers of the Waddy area.

McKayla left her home around 10:00 PM on March 19, 2026, and was reported missing today. We are actively working to locate her and are asking for the public’s help.
