Our 2nd graders have been diving into the magical world of fairy tales and tall tales, and earlier this week​​ they put all of their learning together for a fun-filled cumulative task day! 🏰🌟

Students enjoyed themed snacks, watched tall tales, created their very own fairy tale and tall tale creations, and brought stories to life through an exciting reader’s theater! 🎭📖

It was a day full of creativity, laughter, storytelling, and learning! We are so proud of our little authors, illustrators, and performers! 💙💛

Mrs. Brothers’ 2nd grade class was so excited to read When You Take a Dinosaur to Dinner by author Phyllis Ann Lanier! Mrs. Lanier generously donated a copy of her book to our classroom, and our students absolutely loved the silly story.

She also surprised our class with silicone bracelets featuring the title of the book—a gift our students were so excited to receive!

The class used the story as a fun way to learn about cafeteria procedures and appropriate cafeteria behavior. After reading, students wrote about how they should act in the cafeteria and what it means to be a responsible and respectful diner.

A huge THANK YOU, Mrs. Lanier, for your generosity and for helping us make reading such a fun and memorable experience for our students! Your kindness made our day!

We are so thankful for authors who help our students fall in love with books!

The Health Department will be available during Start Strong Family Night to provide required vaccines for pre-k, kindergarten, 7th grade and any other students who still need required immunizations.

As students return to school, please slow down and stay alert, especially around school buses and bus stops.

Passing a stopped school bus when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended is against the law. Drivers in both directions are required to stop, except when the roadway is divided by a physical median, such as a concrete barrier or grass divider.

Violating this law in Tennessee can lead to a fine and add 8 points to your driver's license.

ParentVUE is now available for families and will be replacing Skyward as the district's student information system! 📚💻

📧 Parents/legal guardians, check your email, which contains a link and the activation key needed to set up the ParentVUE account. If you do not receive an email, please contact your student's school for assistance.

📱 Need help getting started? The Attendance Department will be available at Start Strong Family Night on August 13 at in the gymnasium from 4:30–6:30 PM to assist families with ParentVUE and StudentVUE account setup.
