Another step in the Dräger story below!

Before SCBAs, there were smoke helmets. Dräger’s American story begins in 1907 when the Dräger Oxygen Apparatus Co. opened at 11 Broadway in New York, Dräger’s first subsidiary outside Germany.

As Dräger expanded in the United States, its breathing equipment became part of fire-service history in major metro departments, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and New York. Firefighters used Dräger smoke helmets and early respiratory-protection equipment to enter heavy smoke, search dangerous structures, and rescue people when ordinary breathing was impossible. The equipment has changed dramatically since those early days.

The mission has not: Make the next breath dependable when the surrounding atmosphere isn’t.
