Our goal is to provide Shelby County with a long-term sustainable solid waste management system that includes effective waste reduction through recycling, reclaiming, and education.

We are hiring! We have an opening for a part time Compliance Officer for the Shelby County Recycling District! The role of the Compliance Officer is to enforce the Nuisance Solid Waste Ordinance. The purpose of the ordinance is to keep Shelby County properties neat, clean, and eliminate environmental hazards. If interested in this important position, please call us at 317-392-8904. Our tire event was successful due to the help of our volunteers from Nucor! We collected 1939 tires! Thank you Nucor employees, A&E Tire which accepted the tires, and IDEM for the Waste Tire Grant!

The Shelby County Recycle Center and Transfer Station will be closed Friday, July 3rd, and Saturday, July 4th. We will reopen on Monday, July 6th, at 7:30am. We hope you enjoy celebrating our great country!

This Friday, June 19th, the Shelby County Recycle Center and Transfer Station will be closed for Juneteenth. Both will reopen Saturday, June 20th, at 7:30am.

Reminder! Free Tire Event for Shelby County households this Saturday from 7:30a-11:00a. Shelby County Complex, 1316 N Michigan Rd, Shelbyville. Enter the South gate and you will be directed on where to unload your tires. We will accept any amount, any size, and on/off rim. Large loads may be directed to go to the tire processing facility. Questions, call 317-392-8904.
