Rush/Shelby County CASA

Rush/Shelby County CASA Our organization is The Court and Child Advocacy Group. We are the local CASA program for Rush and Shelby County. We are a non-profit 501(c)3 program.

The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA) recruits, trains and supervises volunteer advocates for children in communities all over the country. The advocates are all volunteers. An advocates job is to represent the best interests of the children assigned to them. These children have become wards of their local court system through no fault of their own. We are always looking for volunte

ers for our program. If you are interested in becoming a CASA the requirements are as follows: 21 years of age, willing to complete background checks, provide references, participate in an interview, complete training, be available for court dates and commit through the duration of your first case.

We are excited to welcome Su Casa to Shelbyville!

Through conversations with community partners including St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shelbyville Central Schools, and MHP, we have heard the growing need for accessible services and support for Latino families in our community. Bringing Su Casa to Shelbyville is an important step toward breaking down barriers and connecting families to trusted resources. The organization has been acting as a cultural bridge for Latino Americans since 1999 in Bartholomew County, and will now call Shelbyville home as well.

Support for bringing Su Casa to Shelby County is being provided through Blue River Community Foundation’s Lilly Endowment GIFT IX Community Support Grant.

Su Casa will offer family support services from their office located inside the Blue River Community Foundation building, including:

✔ Connections to essential services and community resources
✔ Translation services
✔ School enrollment assistance
✔ Advocacy and family support
