Breastfeeding promotion and support is an integral part of the WIC Program. WIC strives to increase the initiation, duration and exclusivity of breastfeeding among women enrolled in the Program. We have our very own Lactation Consultant available to help mothers and babies get off to a great start, find solutions when concerns arise, and answer questions mothers often have about breastfeeding their babies. We also have a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor that can provide mother-to-mother counseling.

survey opportunity from Virginia Tech:
We would appreciate your feedback in an online survey. All responses will remain confidential and secure.
In 2022, an infant formula manufacturing factory in the United States (U.S.) was shut down because of some infant formula had become contaminated. This factory closure and other supply chain factors contributed to shortages of infant formula across the U.S. especially between January 2022 and December 2022. Many U.S. families with infants were affected.
If you were a caregiver responsible for taking care of at least one infant during the 2022 Infant Formula Shortage and you were affected during the shortage, we invite you to take a survey. We are also interested in your thoughts about breastfeeding and infant formula. Your input is important.
If you wish to proceed, please click on this hyperlink to complete the survey: https://virginiatech.questionpro.com/t/AX2RFZ2Wzp
Or you can copy the link into a separate browser: https://virginiatech.questionpro.com/t/AX2RFZ2Wzp
The purpose of the survey is to understand more about caregiver thoughts and actions during the 2022 Infant Formula Shortage in the United States for a study being conducted at Virginia Tech. This study has been approved by the Virginia Tech Institutional Review Board (IRB). The information will be used for research purposes. We will keep your responses confidential by not publishing identifying information about you. Your participation is voluntary. You can withdraw at any time. This online survey should take you about 20 minutes to complete. By taking this survey, you can choose to enter a raffle for a $100.00 Amazon gift card at the end of the survey. The chances of being selected are about 1 in 200.

We thank you for your time and interest. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
