2026 Shelby Business District Trick or Treating Event & Halloween Decorating Competition
1) Business District Trick or Treating
The Chamber is organizing main street business, and any other business in Shelby who wants to participate in trick or treating for the kids. Shelby Public School District #14 releases the kids at 2:45 pm on Friday, Oct 30th. Many will be dressed in their Halloween Costumes for school activities anyways as the school will be doing the Halloween festivities on Friday for the kids. I am requesting if your business would like to get involved with the kids. To purchase candy and be ready for kids to come trick or treating to the business locations. I am requesting the businesses who want to participate be ready from 3:00-4:00 pm on Friday, October 30. The reason for organizing this event the day before Halloween, Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. A good number of businesses will be closed on Saturday.
Be set up outside your place of business ready to hand candy out, if you choose to be inside your business building location to hand candy out make sure to have a way for the kids to know to come inside your business. This is a great way to be active within the community by participating! I will advertise this event to get participation in your locations. I will advertise each business who will be participating via the Chamber page & on the Chamber web site for the community to know details & locations. Must contact the chamber if you want your business listed. If your business is off Main Street, we can still include your business location, OR if you choose come down to the Main Street area with a table and set up or park a vehicle along main and do a trunk or treat style handing candy out. You're more than welcome to put a banner up with your business name for recognition. There's plenty of areas to set up or I can arrange for a location on Main Street for you to do so. For those businesses interested in that option let me know and I will work out the details.
Please contact the Chamber on or before 5:00 pm, October 23 in order to be listed as a participating business for the trick or treating event.
No Registration Fee to participate.
2)Decorating Contest
The Chamber will be hosting a friendly competition with a Halloween storefront display/window decoration contest again this year, and we are encouraging businesses to enter in Shelby.
Any type of decorating will be accepted that is Halloween themed for your window/outside area of your building/business area. Must be visible from the sidewalk.
Judging will take place the day before Halloween, Friday, October 30, during the day. Doing the Judging on Friday since Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. You do not need to be personally present at the time of Judging.
The panel of judges will consist of residents of Logan Health Assisted Living - Shelby.
Registration is required so our judges know where to go for each place to be judged.

Runner Up $50.00 Shelby Chamber Bucks
