We are focused on preserving information of historical significance to Shelby and digitizing data for public access. The purposes of the Shelby Historical Society are:
(1) To foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the history of Shelby, Ohio and northern Richland County:
(2) To identify, acquire, preserve and make accessible artifacts, objects, publications, photographs, oral history,
and other documentary materials related to Shelby and northern Richland County family and community history;
(3) To maintain an archive of past and current literature on the history of the community to enable research and interpret historical information;
(4) To disseminate researched material through publications, including articles and books, permanent and traveling exhibits, events, educational programs for adults and children, lectures, workshops, speakers’ bureau, historical tours, and by digital means on websites and social media;
(5) To protect and preserve items, sites or properties of historic significance to the Shelby and northern Richland County area. (6) To cooperate with other historical societies, libraries, institutions, or organizations seeking resources related to Shelby and northern Richland County;
(7) To accept donations of money, real property, or other property to support the purposes stated above.
