Proudly serving the Shelby Township community. Welcome to Shelby Township History, a Facebook group dedicated to the history of Shelby Township! This group is an affiliate of both the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Department as well as the Shelby Township Historical Committee, and will seek to promote through social media the history of Shelby Township in Macomb County, MI. In addition, this group will also boost the historical sites and resources of the township, as well as local events celebrating the history and heritage of both Shelby Township and Macomb County as a whole. Above all else, our hope is to make the history of Shelby Township exciting for and accessible to the public as much as possible, and in that regard, we hope this page will serve the residents of Shelby Township well. 🇺🇸📜 ICYMI, Shelby Township Historical Committee member Joe Neussendorfer took part in a nationwide celebration of America's founding by reading the Declaration of Independence on July 8 at the Shelby Township Library. 🇺🇸📜

Dressed in authentic period town crier attire, Joe brought history to life as he participated in the National Reading of the Declaration of Independence, honoring the words that helped shape our nation nearly 250 years ago.

A Moment in History: Shelby Township and the People Behind Its Name

Did you know that Shelby Township, Macomb County, Jack Millard Boulevard, Mae Stecker Park and Gene Shepherd Park all share a common thread? Each is named after individuals who left a lasting impact on our community, state or nation.

In the latest edition of The Fountain, the Shelby Township Historical Committee explores the stories behind some of the names we see every day, from Revolutionary War hero Isaac Shelby to local leaders who helped shape the township we know today.

As we celebrate America250, this special edition of A Moment in History highlights the patriots, public servants and community builders whose legacies continue to be part of Shelby Township's story.
