Maywood's mission is to foster environmental stewardship through educational and outdoor experiences designed to connect our community with the natural world. Join us Tuesday for our October Nature at Noon program.

Andy Janicki will share his travel adventures and how he has adapted to traveling with a disability. He's pictured here at Death Valley NP looking out over Badwater Basin, the ancient lake bed 282 feet below sea level!

The program begins at noon in the Ecology Center.

Bring a bag lunch to enjoy during the presentation. Maywood provides coffee, tea, water and dessert.

Looking for a new live stream to follow? We’ve got a great one at Maywood - no subscription fees! The salmon are currently running in the Pigeon River at the park. Park open 4am-10pm daily.

ETA: You have to visit the park to see our live stream - it's literally the river in the park. We don't have a live streaming camera at this time.

These two sugar maples were planted as part of the Arbor Day Tree Planting held by the City of Sheboygan in 2017. They are located along the entrance drive to Maywood.

As you can see the tree on the east side of the driveway is showing some amazing fall color. It receives full sun.

The tree on the west side of the driveway is just starting to show some fall colors in its leaves. It receives more shade - especially in the afternoon.

There are many factors that go into when and how a tree's leaves change color in the fall: sunlight, temperatures, the type of tree, the tree's exposure to heat from paved surfaces and buildings, and precipitation throughout the preceding seasons.

In general, leaves that receive the most sunlight often change color first. This is why you may see a tree where leaves have changed at the top or side that receives sunlight while other leaves remain green.
