One last sappy post before I head off to the next adventure…
It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve the people of Gallatin County, Illinois. Yes, we’ve had our fair share of bumps in the road—but we’ve also had meaningful progress and success worth celebrating.
From upgrading technology and systems in the Clerk’s office, to ensuring our polling places are ADA-accessible for every voter, these improvements will always be among the accomplishments I’m most proud of. Serving this community has shaped me, humbled me, and motivated me to keep pushing for better.

Most of all—thank you. To every person who trusted me, supported me, encouraged improvements, shared posts, asked questions, or simply cared about our county… your support has meant more than you know.
Gallatin County will always be home. This chapter may be closing, but my commitment to this community is far from over.
On to the next adventure, still cheering for Gallatin, always grateful, and forever proud to serve.

📌 Reminder for All Taxing Bodies
Tax levies are due to the County Clerk’s Office no later than Tuesday, December 30, 2025. If not received by this date, the taxing body runs the risk of being unable to levy for tax dollars.

Please make sure all submissions are turned in on time. Thank you!

Thank you to AR Martin Construction for the concrete work at the New Haven Community Center! Grant funding provided by the Illinois State Board of Elections has made it possible to work towards making all polling places ADA accessible.

Tonight I officially announced my resignation as your County Clerk and Recorder. It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Gallatin County. Below you can read my resignation letter.

Today I’m thinking of all the brave men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. Your sacrifice, courage, and love of country mean more than words can express. Because of you, we wake up each day with freedoms protected and futures possible. Thank you for serving, for giving, and for carrying the weight so the rest of us could stand strong. Your service will never be forgotten.

Unfortunately due to reprehensible comments left here on my county clerk page, I will turn off comments for future posts. While I understand that we will be having contested county races next year, that does not mean that dirty politics will play out on this page. This morning a ballot lottery was held to determine what candidate would be listed first in the Republican Sheriff's race and the Republican County Board race. James "Nick" Capeheart will be listed first for the Sheriff's race and Andrew Lunsford will be listed first in the Republican County Board race.
