Our event was such a success. We are so thankful to our speakers who attended to provide much needed information and to all the families that came to show their support in the ongoing fight for answers. Thank you to all who attended.

Yesterday was a meaningful step forward for cold case families across Oklahoma.

With the passage of SB 1636 in the state Senate, our state has recognized what families have known for decades—justice should not have an expiration date, and unanswered questions should never be met with silence.

This bill creates a path for families to request formal case reviews—something that has too often depended on luck, persistence, or simply finding someone willing to listen.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Dorian Quillen for pushing this bill forward, and for advocating on behalf of Cheryl Genzer and Lisa Pennington (often known as the state fair murders) and Dr. Maggie Zingman in honor of her daughter, Brittany Phillips. This moment exists because of your voices, your persistence, and your refusal to accept silence.

SB 1636 does not fix everything. But it creates something we have needed for a long time: structure, accountability, and hope.

Hope that families will be heard.
Hope that cases will be revisited.
Hope that Oklahoma is moving forward.

At Oklahoma Cold Cases, we will continue to stand with families and ensure this law is not just passed—but used. SB 1636 will now go on to the state House of Representatives, where we have every hope that it will pass once again.

Because silence is betrayal.
