It’s time to celebrate MAY ANNIVERSARIES!
11 years ~ Detective Lieutenant Heidi Cartwright was hired 05/19/15 Det. Lt. Cartwright exemplifies passion for service, leadership, and dedication to both the department and the community. Her commitment to supporting victims through Safe Haven, protecting children through ICAC investigations, and educating youth through the radKids program reflects her focus on prevention, education, and ongoing support for victims and their families. Instrumental in advancing the department’s mission, she oversees Investigations, School Resource Officers, and grant management with exceptional professionalism while also actively investigating a wide range of cases. Through mentoring youth and strengthening community partnerships, her impact is felt throughout Shawano and beyond.
26 years ~ Community Service Officer (CSO) Tom Cotter was hired 05/10/00 CSO Cotter is a familiar and highly respected member of the Shawano Police Department and our community, known for his positive attitude, dedication, and willingness to help wherever needed. Whether assisting with vehicle lockouts, animal complaints, funeral escorts, or covering extra shifts, Tom continues to serve the department and community with unwavering commitment. He is a military veteran and active member of AMVETS. Tom very involved in the community through parades, ceremonies, transporting veterans to appointments, and refereeing youth sports. His energy and dedication continue to make a lasting impact on those around him.
1 year ~ Community Service Officer (CSO) Mason Krueger was hired 05/27/25 CSO Krueger takes pride in serving the citizens of Shawano. He is dedicated and willing to help wherever needed, whether assisting with vehicle lockouts, animal complaints, or funeral escorts. Mason is also active in community events and consistently brings a positive attitude while building relationships with the public. His commitment to service and willingness to step in wherever needed make him a valued part of both the department and the community.
1 year ~ Officer Calvin Schultz was hired 05/30/25 Officer Schultz is always willing to help with anything needed, whether assisting with investigations, working short shifts, or stepping in wherever support is required. He consistently brings a positive attitude to every assignment and situation. Calvin has also taken on leadership of our Drone Program, including specialized training to support its operations. This program will enhance our investigative capabilities, allowing him to assist with locating missing persons, tracking suspects, documenting accident scenes, and supporting a variety of other critical investigations.
20 years ~ School Resource Officer Tyler Thornborrow was hired 05/12/06 SRO Thornborrow is dedicated to building and strengthening relationships with students in the Shawano School District and community. As a School Resource Officer, he leads the “We Need You Here” campaign, promoting student attendance while focusing on trust-building, mentorship, and positive engagement with students. He also connects students with job opportunities and meaningful community relationships that build confidence and life skills. His efforts consistently support youth development and school success throughout the district. In addition to his SRO duties, he also serves as an Evidence Technician and is a member of the Honor Guard.
