Patrol Officer
The City of Shawano Police Department is currently recruiting for a Full-time Patrol Officer.

The mission of the Shawano Police Department is to protect and serve the members of the community by enforcing laws and responding to calls for service. Officers are expected to have a positive impact on community relations through meaningful citizen contacts with an emphasis on service.

The Shawano Police Department takes great pride in being progressive and looking to officers for new ideas and strategies. The police department strives to modernize and upgrade all of its equipment to ensure officers have what they need to succeed in their mission.

Patrol Officers work the Pitman work schedule (12-hour shifts with a 2-2, 3-2, 2-3 rotation). This schedule allows officers to have every other weekend off (Fri, Sat, Sun) with the longest work week being 3 days.

City of Shawano provides a generous benefits package for police officers. Newly appointed officers receive all initial duty equipment (uniforms, duty belt, ballistic vest, etc.). Additionally, officers receive a generous clothing allowance. A starting sick leave bank of 360 hours, 226 available hours of time off, and a minimum of 48 hours of in-house training per year (not including specialized training).

For patrol officers, 144 hours of holiday pay are paid out at the beginning of December. Other benefits include longevity and educational incentives for Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's Degrees.

Specialized positions available in the department include drug unit, evidence technician, dive/rescue member, school resource officer, detective, K-9 officer, field training officer, special response team (SRT) member, unified tactics instructor, arson investigator, and crime prevention officer. Starting wage is $31.08 an hour and may increase based on experience. Applications are due by 10/05/26.

It’s time to celebrate our SEPTEMBER ANNIVERSARY!

23 yrs ~ Lieutenant Dan Conradt was hired on 09/29/03. Lt Conradt serves as our Patrol Lieutenant, overseeing the patrol division and its day-to-day operations. His strong leadership skills help guide the patrol division and the department as a whole. Dan is also in charge of our Field Training Program, helping ensure new officers are prepared to serve as patrol officers. Dan once served as a detective, investigating a variety of crimes. His experience in investigations has allowed him to guide and mentor other officers as they conduct their own investigations. Throughout his career, Dan has taken on many responsibilities within the department, including Field Training Officer, Evidence Technician, Evidence Custodian, and Drug Team member.

Thank you, Lt Conradt, for your dedication to our community and the Shawano Police Department. You serve with commitment, bravery, and compassion. Congratulations!

The Shawano Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance with an ongoing investigation. Residents who have home surveillance cameras, doorbell cameras, or other exterior video surveillance systems are asked to review their footage for any potentially suspicious activity, individuals, or vehicles recorded during the following timeframe:

*September 2, 2026
*8:00 PM – Midnight

Areas of particular interest:
*Richmond St south to Ridlington Ave
*Franklin St east to Evergreen St

Investigators have canvassed this area extensively; however, to ensure no residences were missed, we are asking residents to contact us if they captured video during this timeframe. We are specifically interested in any individuals, vehicles, or unusual activity. Even footage that may initially appear insignificant could provide valuable information to investigators.

The attached photograph of the suspect was captured during the incident. Keep in mind, the suspect may have changed clothing prior to and after the incident in an attempt to avoid apprehension.

If you have footage that may be relevant, please contact the Shawano Dispatch Center at 715-526-3111 and reference this request. Please do not approach or attempt to identify anyone yourself. Please preserve the video footage and contact law enforcement.

We appreciate the continued cooperation and support of our community. Your assistance and any surveillance video of the subject may provide additional evidence that becomes important to the investigation.

If enjoying the Shawano County Fair, be sure to take some time to explore the many exhibits and displays showcasing the incredible work of our community’s youth. From 4-H projects to other creative and educational exhibits, these displays highlight the hard work, dedication, and talent of our young people. Stop by, take a look, and help celebrate their accomplishments!

Our officers will be out and about throughout the weekend. As you enjoy the Fair and other Labor Day activities, remember to look out for one another, be aware of your surroundings, and keep an eye on your belongings. If you plan to consume alcohol, make arrangement ahead of time for a safe and sober ride home.

Enjoy the weekend, make some memories, and take time to enjoy all that our community has to offer.
