As most students are looking forward to summer vacation, two of our members are starting school and beginning an exciting new chapter in their careers.

This morning, Billy Turner and Hunter Renner started the Firefighter Academy with the Washington County Division of Emergency Services. We are incredibly proud of their commitment, dedication, and desire to serve their community.

Please join us in wishing Billy and Hunter the best of luck as they begin this challenging and rewarding journey. We have no doubt they will represent themselves, their families, and the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company with pride.

Congratulations, Billy and Hunter—we look forward to watching your success!

Thank you to Sharpsburg Elementary School for having us at Field Day. We had a great time with the students, and they definitely enjoyed cooling off with a little water from the fire hose.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of such a fun day☀️🚒🚌📆🧑‍🚒

The Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company would like to extend their sincere gratitude to everyone who assisted and provided guidance in the effort to place crisis hotline signs on the Shepherdstown Pike (MD Route 34) bridge connecting Sharpsburg, Maryland and Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

This project has been a true collaborative effort involving SVFC, Maryland Behavioral Health Administration , MD Department of Transportation , student representatives of Shepherd University and community members. Your willingness to work together to help address this ongoing concern is greatly appreciated.

Over the last 30 days alone, there have been two separate police interventions on the bridge where individuals were successfully prevented from jumping. These incidents serve as a reminder that this bridge continues to be an area of concern and that access to immediate crisis resources can make a difference.

While no single action will solve this issue entirely, the placement of these signs is one more important step in providing resources, hope, and support to individuals who may be experiencing a crisis. We are hopeful that the signs will encourage those in need to reach out for help and remind them that they are not alone.
