It’s EMS Week 2026!!!

Here at Sharpsburg EMS, we like to show our appreciation to our staff and volunteers year-round, but we’ll absolutely use this week to celebrate them a little extra.

To our boots on the ground — our Paramedics and EMTs — thank you. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, loyalty, compassion, and the incredible patient care you provide every single day. Thank you for staying calm under pressure and showing up when people need you most.

Thank you for being there at 3 a.m. to hold a scared grandmother’s hand. Thank you for making a frightened 4-year-old laugh during one of the scariest moments of their life. It’s the way you speak to patients like they’re your own family members. It’s the way you comfort worried families and treat everyone with dignity and respect.

EMS isn’t always about “medical” things. It’s about how you carry yourselves on someone’s worst day. It’s your empathy, your compassion, and your ability to stay calm for everyone around you when things feel overwhelming.

EMS can often feel like a thankless job, and the truth is, you simply don’t get paid enough for everything you do, everything you see, and everything you carry with you long after the call is over. Yet, despite it all, you continue to show up every single day without fail for the people who need you.

One week — EMS Week — could never fully recognize what you deserve. At Sharpsburg EMS, we appreciate you every day, and we are here for you every day.

So to all of our providers: thank you. Even though we know those words will never truly be enough. ❤️

It’s Nurses Appreciation Week, which let’s be honest, still isn’t nearly enough appreciation for everything nurses deal with. The long hours, shifts that never seem to slow down, missed meals, time away from family, getting yelled at by patients, and seeing some of the absolute worst moments people can experience.

And somehow, on top of all that… they still have to deal with EMS.
You know, those chaos gremlins that keep rolling through the doors with “just one more patient.” The providers who either give a full 20-minute backstory starting with the patient’s childhood… or hand over absolutely nothing except “good luck.” The med radio reports that sound like a podcast episode while nurses are already juggling seventeen other things at once.

But seriously — we see you, we appreciate you, and honestly the healthcare system would completely fall apart without you holding it together with caffeine, sarcasm, and pure stubbornness.

Heck, we’ll even share Wiener Wednesday with you because that’s how much you mean to us.

Keep being the absolute badasses that you are. Happy Nurses Appreciation Week from your favorite pain in the butt — EMS. 🚑❤️

This week is National Telecommunicators Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible voices behind the scenes.

Our dispatchers are the calm in the chaos — the ones who answer the call on someone’s worst day and keep our patients as calm and reassured as possible until help arrives. They’re handling multiple incidents at once, coordinating crews, gathering critical information, and somehow keeping everything moving when things get hectic.

They truly are the lifeline between the public and emergency services, and we couldn’t do what we do without them.

And let’s be honest… they also deserve a special kind of award for dealing with first responders who are sometimes running on no sleep, too much caffeine, and just a little bit of Sass 😅

We appreciate everything you do, today and every day. Thank you for being the steady voice when it matters most.

Last night’s Sharpsburg EMS banquet was an incredible evening. 🚑✨

It was a time to celebrate the dedication, hard work, and heart that each and every member brings to this organization. From the long shifts to the tough calls, it never goes unnoticed—and it was a great reminder of just how strong this team is.

As Chief, I couldn’t be more proud of this group. The way everyone works together, supports one another, and truly looks out for each other—both on and off the truck—is something special. That kind of bond can’t be taught, and it’s what makes this department what it is.

A huge thank you to CRS for covering the station and allowing our crew the opportunity to step away and enjoy the evening together—we truly appreciate your support.

Behind the uniforms is a family, and I’m grateful every day to be a part of it.

Here’s to another year of serving our community with pride. 💙🚑

Today our paramedic, coworker, and friend Ashley is undergoing surgery. Let’s show her just how loved she is ❤️

While she’s in there being her strong, badass self, let’s fill this post with all the positive vibes, prayers, and good thoughts we’ve got.

And most importantly… DROP YOUR DOG PHOTOS 🐶📸
Because honestly, nothing heals faster than a feed full of cute pups.

Let’s make sure when Ashley wakes up, she’s got a whole lot of love (and dogs) waiting for her 💛

Sometimes unfortunate things happen… like smacking a deer on the way back from a call.

Good news—our crew is completely fine, which is the only thing that actually matters.

Even better news—the deer must’ve felt bad, because it politely returned our front license plate before leaving the scene. Real stand-up citizen.

South County folks—and now the wildlife—are clearly top notch.

Recently, one of our own employees was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease—a rare, progressive condition that affects the blood vessels in the brain. Moyamoya causes the arteries that supply blood to the brain to gradually narrow, limiting blood flow and increasing the risk of stroke, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), headaches, seizures, and other neurological symptoms. Because the disease progresses over time, it often requires close medical monitoring, lifestyle adjustments, and in some cases, surgical intervention. It is a diagnosis that can feel overwhelming, both physically and emotionally.

Facing this challenge will not be easy for Ashley—especially because anyone who knows her knows she never stops. When she isn’t working, she’s spending time with her family. Ashley has served this department, as well as CRS and the Division of Emergency Services, for many years. She has dedicated countless hours to helping others, often putting the needs of her team and community before her own.

Now, it’s our turn.

Ashley has always shown up for everyone else, and in this moment, she deserves that same unwavering support in return. Whether it’s offering encouragement, understanding, patience, or simply being present, let’s rally around her and remind her that she is not facing this journey alone. Our strength as a department is measured not just by how we serve the public—but by how we take care of our own.

Below is a link to purchase shirts to show Ashley that we are here, standing with her, and fully supporting her every step of the way.
