SAVE THE DATE!

We’re excited to share that AWARE, Inc. is participating in PA-OH GIVES Giving Week from June 20–26! 🎉

This annual event, sponsored by the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH, supports local nonprofits making a difference in our community. During Giving Week, you can make a secure online donation — and thanks to available matching funds, your gift can go even farther to support survivors in Mercer County.

Your support helps us provide critical services like our 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, children’s services, and community education programs.

Join us during Giving Week and help us continue building a safer, stronger community. 💜

Flat funding does not provide survivors with the support they need. Encourage you local Senators and Reps to support a $12.5 million dollar increase for Pennsylvania’s 47 R**e Crisis Centers.

💙 Survivors are not a line item. 💙

For six years, Pennsylvania's 47 r**e crisis centers have gone without a state funding increase while the need for services continues to grow. Every day, advocates answer hotline calls, accompany survivors to hospitals, support families through the legal system, provide counseling, prevention education, and help people rebuild their lives after trauma.

We are one network. One mission. Supporting survivors.

📢 Join advocates, survivors, community members, and allies from across the Commonwealth as we gather in Harrisburg to call for sustainable funding for r**e crisis services.

Because survivors deserve better.
Because healing cannot wait.
Because six years without an increase is six years too long.

We loved seeing Carly and Krista out in the community this past weekend at the “Mom to Mom” event hosted by the Buhl Club! This wonderful event supports local families and offers incredible deals for children’s items — all while bringing our community together.

A huge thank-you to the Buhl Club for hosting, and an extra thank-you to Carly and Krista for helping families learn more about AWARE’s services, including our confidential domestic and sexual violence support, counseling, and 24/7 hotline. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect, share resources, and continue building a safer, stronger Mercer County.

Trauma-informed care is about more than services provided. It is about how people are treated when they reach out for help. At AWARE, this means listening without judgment, respecting each person’s choices, and meeting individuals where they are in their healing process. It is an approach rooted in advocacy, safety, and compassion.

Everyone deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported when seeking help. Learn more about AWARE’s advocacy and support services: https://merceraware.org/

Our Advocates have been busy these past few weeks, and we’re so grateful for the impact they’re making in our community!

Aaron and Carly recently presented our “Safe Dates” curriculum to students in Mrs. Boughner’s class at Lakeview High School. We couldn’t have asked for a more engaged, thoughtful group of kids — their willingness to learn and participate gives us hope for a safer, more respectful future.

We’re also excited to share that Carly has begun working with Logan’s Landing, an organization dedicated to creating a more inclusive world for children with autism and sensory needs. This new partnership will help the children we serve feel even more supported, safe, and included.

We’re proud of the work our team is doing to build a stronger, safer Mercer County. 💜

This past Saturday, our Executive Director, Megan McConahy, had the privilege of attending Pittsburgh Action Against R**e's (PAAR) Teal Ball — a truly inspiring evening dedicated to honoring courage, resilience, and the unwavering commitment to r**e crisis work.

We were grateful to stand alongside so many advocates, survivors, and community partners who share our mission of creating safety, promoting healing, and building a future free from violence. The event was a powerful reminder of why this work matters and how strong our community is when we come together.

Megan is pictured alongside PAAR's Executive Director, Sadie Restivo and Aware Board Member, Jimmy Kirsch.

Thank you, PAAR, for hosting such a meaningful celebration and for all you do to support survivors. 💙✨
