AREA Services, Inc. began as a small, one-ambulance operation and has evolved to be one of the largest providers of emergent care in central Pennsylvania, locally owned and operated with owner and CEO Bernie Rumberger. is committed to providing emergency and non-emergency ambulance service to the citizens of Northumberland, Montour, Columbia, Snyder, Union, and Schuylkill counties. currently maint

ains and operates four mobile intensive care units (MICUs) and one squad truck responding to calls throughout Northumberland County and the surrounding regions. AREA’s MICUs are stocked with state of the art equipment and manned by a knowledgeable and professional staff. AREA’s MICUs are the core of emergency response in the organization. AREA also staffs seven basic life support ambulances responding to emergency and non-emergency calls alike. AREA’s BLS trucks are manned by a competent and caring staff providing exceptional transport services throughout the region. In support of the ambulance, AREA also operates five wheelchair transport vans to comprehensively meet all of the transport needs any patient may require

Great job team!
This morning, all night-shift trucks were on life threatening calls all over the area, leaving our area depleted in resources. A call came in for an Unresponsive Person and a neighboring EMS service was called to come in from out of our jurisdiction. Day shift crews rapidly went through the stock room, went shopping for gear, and responded in a small van to the scene, getting to the patient before neighboring EMS services could. We have improved patient outcomes and we exemplified what true teamwork is this morning.

Good morning. Due to the celebration in Shamokin on Independence Street, the planned fundraiser for our local schools is postponed. We will reschedule again as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Please enjoy your day and support your local businesses and participating vendors.

AREA services provides EMS to three different school districts. In addition to providing Emergency Medical Services, AREA would like to assist these districts by fundraising toward necessary school/classroom supplies. We would like to welcome everybody to stop by our Shamokin station on Saturday the 16th and 23rd of August to benefit the local schools. We will have food and drinks for purchase. There will also be staff members available for Q&A and equipment there to view. We will be accepting donations of school supplies and all proceeds that come from food sales will go towards school supply donations.

August 16th will be pulled pork
August 23rd will be a chicken BBQ.
Both dates will include sides as well.

Cost will be $12 each.

Come on by, say hello to the staff. Bring the kids to tour the ambulances.
We hope to see everyone there to help our schools.
