On behalf of the members of the Friendship Fire and Hose company we would like to congratulate one of our own. Ariana Manley has been a member of this company for over 5 years and currently holds the recording secretary position. During her time she has shown interest in becoming the best at what she does and works hard to get there. Recently Ariana has passed her EMT certification and is now a new EMT for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Congratulations Ariana. We all wish you the best in your new career.

Yesterday the Rescue Fire Co, Hills Fire Company and Trevorton Fire Company - Station 300 held a joint training on engine company operations involving Tanker 165. Lt. Matt Lauro and Assistant Chief Thomas Jefferys conducted assisted members on hose line advancement and drivers working the pumps. Captain Shawn Myers and Firefighter Jen Thew worked with members on laddering a building and the importance of exterior operations. All together 30+ members were in attendance! While building and strengthening relationships this was yet again another wonderful training.

What another great training for the SFB this week. Last night Lt.31 Matt Lauro and FF Will Rovinsky worked with members on Engine/Ladder Company operation with laddering a building. Captain 10 Shawn Myers and Lt. 160 Kevin Fehnel worked on drivers training. Between both company’s, we had a total 20-25 members in attendance.

Tonight the Friendship got together with our sister company Rescue Hose Company Station 30 and or neighbors at Forrest Hills Fire Company Station 160 to work on tanker shuttles in a rural environment. Our weekly training consisted of 20 combined members. Engine 31 was used as a fill site for the tanker. Tanker 165 then supplied Engine 11 which drafted water from a porta tank and supplied water to Ladder 32. This training is vital in our area as some towns do not have enough hydrants if any at all.

After a few long weeks for engine 11 being out of service due to pump related issues, the engine is back home and ready to serve the citizens of Shamokin again! We would like to send a special thanks to the City of Shamokin for their amazing leadership and getting the engine repairs completed. Thank you to Fire and Rescue Products out of Harrisburg for their amazing crew to get engine 11 completed!! They have amazing office staff and mechanics and we highly recommend them! And lastly thank you to our sister companies Rescue Fire Company and Liberty Fire Company for coming to assist us in getting engine 11 back in service! This was an amazing opportunity to come together to learn equipment and placement to make our operations better on the fire ground!
