November 2, 2025 (Call #533 of 2025)

At 0828hrs, Company 90 was dispatched as part of the 70-1 box for a report of smoke in the structure at Dunkin Donuts at 1769 North Susquehanna Trail in Monroe Township, Snyder County.

Squad 90/Engine 90 responded with 8. Upon arrival, Squad 90 was advised that smoke was coming from the HVAC unit on the roof. The Squad positioned on side B of the structure to leave room for the incoming Tower, and the crew immediately began laddering the structure to gain access to the roof. The Squad/Engine crews, along with Company 70, then split for interior operations and roof operations.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that there was no fire and only a faulty HVAC unit. The roof crew secured power to the unit, and interior crews confirmed that there were no further issues in the structure.

After confirming that the unit was fully secured, command placed the box in service.

September 23, 2025 (Call #472 of 2025)

At 0207 hours, Company 90 was dispatched for a reported vehicle accident with no injuries and fluids down in the area of 4437 North Susquehanna Trail, Shamokin Dam, Snyder County.

Squad 90 arrived to find a pickup truck hauling a cattle trailer that had gone down a 20-foot embankment, with the trailer overturned in the creek.

A quick size-up determined the driver sustained only minor injuries, but the trailer still contained 106 newborn calves.

Additional resources were requested, including Company 70, extra manpower from Company 90, EMA, and PennDOT.

Aurands Auto Service LLC quickly removed the pickup truck from the embankment. Once the vehicle was cleared, it was determined that the trailer could not be lifted safely without risking further harm to the surviving calves.

A new plan was developed, requiring crews to cross the creek, clear brush, and create access to the trailer. Once access was made, it was confirmed that many calves were still alive, but they would need to be removed one at a time and carried up the embankment.

Due to the manpower-intensive operation, additional companies from Sunbury, Point Township, Northumberland, Winfield, and Kratzerville were requested.

Over the next 90 minutes, fire crews and farm workers worked side by side to remove calves from the trailer. In the end, several dozen were successfully rescued and loaded into a replacement trailer.

We would like to give a big thank you to the crews that assisted us this morning. Your help was greatly appreciated.

September 7, 2025 at 1609hrs (Call #443 of 2025)

Squad 90 was dispatched to the area of 2755 North Susquehanna Trail in Shamokin Dam, Snyder County, for a reported auto accident with entrapment and multiple patients.

Squad 90 arrived on the scene to find 1 passenger vehicle under a tractor-trailer carrying hydraulic oil and 0W-20 Motor Oil.

The driver of the passenger vehicle self-extricated with minor injuries, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

Squad 90 pulled a bumper line for scene protection and assisted members of Rescue 56 with damming the entrance to nearby storm drains as a precaution.

After a full size-up and assessment of the scene, it was determined that no fluids had leaked from either vehicle, and they were safely removed from the roadway by Aurands Auto Service LLC.

PennDOT then assessed the damage to the roadway, and after a quick fix, determined it was safe to reopen.
