Thank you Mr. Jim!

Giving a big shout out to Mr. Jim. He and a couple board members who gave up their evening to make sure the paint is refreshed for game 3. To know Mr. Jim is to love Mr. Jim. He is a selfless serving volunteer who shows up in the gaps without hesitation. He gives countless hours of his time and is a big help to our programs here in Shalimar. If you see him give him a thanks, everyone needs a Mr. Jim. Shalimar is very grateful to have him be apart. He loves all our youth programs in our community.

Mosquito Season is Here - Help Reduce the Buzz!

Weekly mosquito spraying in Shalimar begins mid-to-late May (Thursdays at sunset), but residents can make a big impact too. Here are a few simple ways to cut down on mosquitoes around your home:

• Dump standing water from buckets, planters, tarps, and toys
• Clean gutters and drains so water can’t collect
• Change birdbath water at least once a week
• Keep grass trimmed and shrubs maintained
• Check screens on windows and doors for holes
• Use outdoor fans - mosquitoes are weak flyers

Commissioners unanimously approved a purchase agreement for 1.7 acres on Garnier's Bayou, but the deal hinges on state funding, an appraisal and a Town of Shalimar commitment.
