🐾📚 Meet Luna, one of our adorable Waggin’ Tales reading pups!

Luna stopped by the library on Saturday, and our young readers had a wonderful time sharing stories with her. Of course, we couldn’t let Luna leave without finding a good book for her to enjoy, too! 🐶❤️📖

Books + pups = a pretty perfect Saturday at the library! ✨

Protect Your Health at Every Age
Healthy aging is about staying active, maintaining independence, and taking steps today that can support your health in the years ahead. One important part of preventive health is staying up to date on recommended vaccines. As we get older, our immune system can change, and some infections may lead to more serious complications. Along with regular physical activity, nutritious food, adequate sleep, and routine health checkups, vaccination can be an important part of a healthy-aging plan.

A simple reminder: Vaccine recommendations can vary based on your age, health conditions, previous vaccinations, and other factors. Talk with your healthcare professional or pharmacist about which vaccines may be appropriate for you. Healthy aging starts with informed choices.

It’s National Fruits & Veggies month! Here are a few ideas from Scott County WIC on how you can celebrate:
• Incorporate more fruits and veggies into meals you already enjoy (for example, adding veggies to soups, stews, or casseroles)
• Pick out one new fruit or vegetable to taste each week
• Buy fresh produce from a local farmer’s market
• Get your child(ren) involved in the kitchen! Have them help rinse fruits and veggies, mix salad ingredients in a bowl, scoop and pour berries onto their cereal, etc.
• Read books about fruits & veggies with your child(ren)

WIC helps families implement these kinds of changes by providing eligible participants with a monthly fruit and vegetable benefit, farmer’s market vouchers (given on a first-come, first-served basis), cookbooks/recipe ideas, and other nutrition tips. Find out more about the WIC program and see if you are eligible: https://www.scottcountymn.gov/2044/Women-Infants-and-Children-WIC
