🎉📚 A great big congratulations to Miss Lily, age 2, for completing our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program!

Lily reached the amazing goal of reading 1,000 books—and she did it at just TWO years old! ❤️

Children who participate in the program work toward this milestone before age 5, receiving a small reward for every 100 books they read along the way.

Way to go, Lily! We are so proud of you and all the wonderful reading you’ve done! 📖✨

Toddler Tales returned today and boy, did the kids show up! We were so excited to see old faces and some new. Today we read Owl By Myself by Pete Oswald and I Used to Be a Dinosaur by Casey Lyall and Laurie Miller. The craft we made was a school bus and we focused on the kids learning to use scissors.

There is a part time position open at our Shady Spring Branch. The branch is open 9am-5pm Monday - Friday and the first and third Saturdays of the month from 10 am - 2 pm

20 hours/week $10.20/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Participate in public service desk duties with a positive attitude for patrons and staff

· Provide user focused service

· Provide patron services in person, over the phone, or via email respectfully, attentively, effectively, and efficiently

· Provide notary service

· Provide public assistance with accessing library equipment, materials, and services

· Be willing to learn new skills

· Clean and maintain library including but not limited to the public computers, public spaces, equipment, kits, and games

· Provide circulation services including but not limited to checking items in/out, creating patron cards, shelving, shelf reading, processing financial transactions, and placing holds

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor or director

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or sit for long periods of time and use a computer for extended periods. The employee is required to climb, balance, stoop, and crouch, at times repetitively. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally more.

Registration is open for Fall Community Education classes which start the end of September!

Classes are on a first come basis. You may sign up at ACT's office during normal business hours Monday - Thursday from 7am to 6pm and Friday from 7am to 2pm. If you have any questions call 304-256-4615.
