At JCEMS, the kiddos aren’t just visitors… they’re our Junior EMTs in Training. 😎

Whether they’re helping “inspect” the ambulance, checking out the equipment, hanging out during shift dinners, or teaching the Director the latest dance moves, they’re part of the JCEMS family too! 💃🕺🚑

One thing we’re proud of at JCEMS is that we’re more than coworkers—we’re family. Our spouses, children, and loved ones are welcomed through the station doors and become part of what makes this place special.

When your administration knows your spouse’s name, your kids’ names, and is willing to bust out some 6:7 dance moves with them on station… you’re definitely more than an employee number. 😂

Located on I-65 halfway between Indianapolis and Louisville, Jackson County EMS is looking for a dedicated Paramedic to join our team on a 24/48 schedule, 10 shifts per month, no Kelly day, and built-in overtime pay with opportunities to pick up extra overtime shifts, as desired. We want to take a moment to brag on our crews. In preparation for the incoming storms, an all-call page was sent out requesting availability for additional coverage to provide support locally or to surrounding counties, if needed.

Within 10 minutes, we had 12 off-duty crew members respond that they were willing to come in and help.
That dedication doesn't happen by accident. The men and women of Jackson County EMS consistently put the safety and well-being of our community first. Whether they're on duty or enjoying time with their families, they're always ready to answer the call when Jackson County or our neighboring communities need assistance.

You should know that the crew members of Jackson County EMS have the community's best interests as their top priority, and we couldn't be more proud to serve our communities!

Stay weather aware this evening and overnight, Jackson County!

The latest weather updates continue to show all modes of severe weather on the table for our area, including:

🌪️ Tornadoes
💨 Damaging winds
🌨️ Large hail
⚡ Frequent lightning
🌧️ Heavy rainfall

Now is the time to prepare:

📱 Charge your phone
🔔 Make sure emergency alerts are enabled
📻 Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings overnight
🏠 Know where you’ll take shelter if a warning is issued

⚠️ Remember: Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outside. They should not be your only method of receiving weather warnings while sleeping.

The storms may arrive after dark when many people are asleep, so don’t wait until the weather turns bad to make a plan.

🚫 And as always, standing on the porch saying, “I think it’s going around us,” is not an approved emergency management strategy.

Stay safe, stay prepared, and keep an eye on the forecast.

🚑 Murphy’s actual mission: Make sure the next crew can see all the way to next week through the windshield. 😂🪟✨

It’s always great to see our team taking pride in the equipment that helps us serve Jackson County. Sometimes it’s the little things—like a clean windshield and a full tank—that help keep us ready for whatever call comes next.

Nice work, Murphy! 👏

Just remember… every time you do something extra, your FTO notices. 🤣

Today, our crews provided EMS coverage for U.S. military air-drop training exercises at Freeman Field.

It was a little outside our normal routine. We're usually putting people into aircraft to get them to a higher level of care, not standing on the ground watching them jump out of perfectly good helicopters!

The CH-47 Chinook also made our ambulances look pretty small. Let's just say it seemed slightly bigger than the aircrafts we're used to loading patients into.

Fortunately, all the training went smoothly, and we're happy to report there were no injuries. We appreciate the opportunity to support our military partners and be part of a unique day at Freeman Field.

And yes, everyone landed where they were supposed to.

Well, the votes are in and the people have spoken! 🎸🤘
After a fierce competition and some truly questionable artistic decisions, we've officially crowned our contest winner. Congratulations to Paramedic Camryn White, whose masterpiece convinced the masses that our Director's true calling was fronting a 90's punk rock band!

A huge thank you to everyone who voted, liked, commented, and helped decide which version of him would live on in EMS history. 😆

We love finding ways to have fun during our downtime. A little laughter goes a long way, and these small projects help build the teamwork, trust, and camaraderie that matter most when it's time to answer the call.

Now excuse us while we go look for his debut album... 🎤🎶

What started as a simple community coloring project quickly turned into an unofficial agency competition here at JCEMS!

A handful of team members accepted the challenge, and after reviewing the entries, we've selected 4 finalists.

In honor of National Emergency Medical Services week, Ivy Tech Madison would like to spotlight the Hugh E. Garner Memorial Endowed Scholarship. Hugh’s wife, Annabet established a memorial fund in Hugh’s name to assist students pursuing a degree in the EMS field.

Hugh had served nearly 50 years as a paramedic and was awarded Paramedic of the Year in 2005 by the Indiana EMS Commission of recognition of outstanding service and dedication. He developed the first EMT Course at Ivy Tech Community College in 1985 and continued to serve part-time as a course instructor in all levels of EMS courses until he passed away in 2022. We are grateful for the impact Hugh had on our campus and are thankful for the continued support from his loved ones.
