Today, we wanted to highlight the Marine Corps League Valley Detachment in Seymour.
The detachment is a local chapter of the Marine Corps League, a nationally chartered veteran’s organization founded in 1923. The organization is dedicated to supporting Marines, veterans, military families, and the local community through service programs, patriotic events, veteran advocacy, and fellowship.
Beyond its work with veterans, the facility serves as an important community gathering place and is available for hall rentals, including parties, meetings, fundraisers, celebrations, and other special events.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Jim Derbabian for taking the time to meet with us today and share information about the detachment and its continued impact on our community.

Tonight, we celebrate an extraordinary group of young adults—the Seymour High School Class of 2026! 🎓

Over the years, this class has left its mark on our community in so many ways. They have excelled in the classroom, competed on our fields and courts, performed on our stages, volunteered their time, supported local events, and shown what it means to be part of the Seymour community. Their achievements are countless, but what stands out most is the character, leadership, kindness, and determination they have shown along the way.

To the Class of 2026: Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment. Seymour is proud of all you have achieved, grateful for the impact you have made on our community, and excited to see where your journey takes you next.

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat. Congratulations, Class of 2026! 💙💛🎓

Congrats to the Seymour Middle School 8th Grade Class of 2026!

Today is more than a promotion; it’s a milestone. You are leaving behind the halls that helped shape you and stepping into a new chapter filled with opportunities, challenges, and experiences that will help define who you become.

As you head off to high school, remember that you carry with you the pride of an entire community. Seymour is a special place because of the people in it, and each of you plays a part in its future. Continue to work hard, support one another, get involved, and never be afraid to chase your goals.

Take time to celebrate how far you’ve come, but also be excited for what’s ahead. Your story is just beginning, and I have no doubt that great things are in store for each of you.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. Your Seymour community is proud of you and cheering you on every step of the way. 💙💛🐾

Congratulations to all of the Chatfield-LoPresti Cheetahs and Bungay Bees on your promotion to middle school!

Today is a big day and one you should all be proud of. As you leave your elementary school years behind, I hope you take the leadership, kindness, friendships, and lessons you’ve learned in your own school communities with you.

The wonderful thing about Seymour is that our students come from different schools but come together as one community. This fall, you’ll bring all of those experiences, talents, and strengths to Seymour Middle School, where you will begin your next chapter as Seymour Middle School Cougars.

Keep being kind. Keep being leaders. Keep looking out for one another. The future of our community is bright because of each and every one of you.

Congratulations, Cheetahs and Bees! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish as Cougars.

💙💛 Small town, big heart—and some pretty amazing kids. Congratulations to all of you! 🐆🐝🐾

Happy Flag Day

Today we proudly celebrate the Stars and Stripes and all that our flag represents — freedom, sacrifice, resilience, and hope.

We are reminded every day that patriotism isn’t just about flying a flag; it’s about neighbors helping neighbors, supporting one another, and coming together as a community. That’s what makes our town so special.

As we honor our nation’s flag, let’s also celebrate the spirit of Seymour — a community that continues to show what can be accomplished when people care about one another and take pride in where they live.

God bless Seymour, and God bless the United States of America. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
